The Real Reason Why Ford Doesn't Sell A Bronco Pickup Today

"When Ford announced the Bronco, Jeep was kind of playing a game of its own with the Wrangler. There was no other vehicle on the market that could compete in terms of off-road abilities and open-top feel. This was until Ford came up with the Bronco which managed to get close to the Jeep's abilities. Its lack of a solid front axle puts it a bit behind, but it is safe to say that the Bronco is the second most capable 4x4 on the market today.

With the above in mind, it would only make sense to produce a Ford Bronco pickup."

READ THE ARTICLE

Top Speed believes a Gladiator rival would sell well, especially if produced with a stubbier wheelbase vs. what Jeep puts out, but it won't happen unless Ford cancels the Ranger.

We've talked about a Bronco pickup before, but what do you think about it competing with the Ranger? Would you take a Bronco pickup over one? Personally, I wouldn't. I think the Bronco is fine for its purpose as is, and if I wanted a truck, I would go larger than a Ranger.

I call the Mach E the Mach e Pinto. It's 100% NOT a stang.

I keep saying they should have used a name they couldn't tarnish for the electric car, like Granada or Fairmont. No matter what its not a Mustang, Mustangs have V-8s.

I understand Ford's use of the Mustang Mach E, which was to generate legitimacy of their first dedicated EV platform. But thinking about it Maverick might have served well too. Definitely not "Pinto" 😂
They should have called it Lightning. Lightning was a trim so the EV line could all be Lightning; lightning car,Lightning F150, Bronco Lightning (?) ect. Then they could have done a whole add campaign of Thunder and Lightning. The Mustangs and Broncos (especially Raptor) could be thunder.

when they start burning the Pinto name will be all over it.
They didn't achieve legitimacy, they pissed off a bunch of loyal Ford customers. On top of it, the car is ugly.

They could have dusted off the Probe name.
Like the appliance the Probe name evokes, it is battery powered like said appliance. Lets face it, EVs are soulless
machines, the Beach boys aren't going to write songs about battery powered cars.

Ugh the Fairmont name still gives me chills. When I was in my early teens I traded labor for a 73 Firebird Trans AM that just needed paint once some minor work had been completed. Atleast in those days you couldn't have a car in your name as a minor so my mom traded it for a volare and a Fairmont. She figured 2 cars for one I guess.

True, although I think it's perspective. Had they not put the Mustang on it I think it would have been more accepted. EVs aren't my thing but in that lane it would have been a solid car and a viable alternative to the evil tesla empire.

The Gladiator is possibly one of the fugliest vehicles I have ever seen period. Ford can't even make enough Broncos I hope they avoid this debacle of making a truck, especially when they have the Ranger which is constantly getting improvements. JMO

Comeonman, the Mustang was originally marketed as a meek and mild "Secretary's car". In fact Ford was all over it in 2018 that the first Mustang customer was a 22-year-old lady school teacher Gail Wise, who still owned the convertible 'Stang 54 years later. Mustangs have 4, 6, and 8 cylinders. And now AC syncronous electric motors...

Naming their first ground-up EV a Mustang Mach E doesn't disrespect the Mustang legacy, in fact it probably will just eventully enhance the legacy.

Not flaming, just putting the truth out to read. 😉

No, we don’t need another pickup truck. It’s time has come and gone. I saw this recently in Kennewick, Washington. It was “cute.” Not the first thing you should think when you look at a pickup truck. Still, cool in its own way…

Chris here. I drive a 2-door Velocity Blue 2023 Ford Bronco Badlands with Sasquatch, Lux, a 2.7L V6, and an automatic transmission. It’s fun.

Absolutely, I would take a Bronco pickup in a heart beat. Ford should make single cabs and put a Diesel engine with both MT and ATs.

I think the Bronco with it's IFS is better for everyday driving, long trips and more than capable when off the pavement. Solid front axles are great off-road not so comfy for everyday. I would not want to get a Jeep with an SFA. Compared to the Bronco, jeeps are not as comfortable for long hauls. I would rather get a Land Cruiser Fj60, Fj70 or an Fj80,
The Ranger outside the US, is Ford's answer to the Toyota Hilux which is a Tacoma's smaller and slightly more capable brother. The US market is different from everywhere else in the world. But there would definitely be a demand for a Bronco pickup.

Ford won't do it for one simple reason, they only care about profits, not serving the market.

I’ve had pickups my entire life.
They are and always will be a needed vehicle for the working class.
Much like utility vans.

My wife and I agreed to buy her an explorer (sport trac) in 2005.

Cute little truck and what is perceived as a very small useless bed.

(I Was Extreemely underestimating the functionality)

The inside dimension width is 49”
With the tailgate down is 6’ length.

-I have hauled 8 sheets of 1/2” plywood.

-8 sheets of 1/2” sheet rock.

-a washer and drier.

-4 five gallon fuel cans.

- 12 bags of assorted peat moss , garden soil , fertilizer etc…

But the key to the sport trac was the (Drop Down Tailgate)

A pickup version of the Bronco is
In my opinion
useless with a swing gate.

Unlike the previous generations,
All of whitch I’ve seen on farms , ranches , feed stores etc , at one time or another,

No reason at all for ford to even bother with a pickup version, if they keep the swing gate.
