I am not going to retract all the good things I have said about the Ford Bronco, but there is a new player in town, and there is no question this player is for real. Enter LEXUS GX 550.

I AM not going to get into the specifications, you can look all that up for yourself, because as of 8:00 pm last night it was all over the internet. But if this vehicle lives upto to its look and its on paper specs the bronco, the jeep, the Land Rover, Mercedes SUV's, and all other off road SUV's had better take notice especially if Lexus has the price point between $ 65,000. and say around $ 80,000.00 loaded.

I have to be honest if I was looking at a loaded Wildtrak at $ 70,000.00, A loaded bronco raptor at $ 97,000.00 MSRP, or a LOADED GX 550 at say $ 80,000.00 the bronco raptor would be out and it would be a very tough choice vs. the Wildtrak with even having to spend $ 5000.00 to $ 10,000.00 more.

Lexus just said, " hold my Japanese Beer ! ". And I mean that in a very good and intimidating way.

The problem I see is when people start realizing they are paying the same price for a vehicle where the build quality is not even close, that is where ford loses. The bronco raptor just became a afterthought at almost $ 100,000.00 MSRP.

If a loaded GX 550 lists for $ 80,000.00, a LOADED WILDTRAK at $ 70,000.00 is $ 10,000.00 to high.
The problem with this is when you try and give a rationale for the value of vehicles…

I assure you if they were not the hottest vehicle on the planet, the price of Broncos would not be going up…

Capitalism is never pure, but I believe in this case the demand is sending the price of the supply through the roof!!

I remember just about choking the first time I bought an F150 (35,0000 in 2004), and crossing the $50k threshold was a little unnerving… while waiting for my Bronco I was building and pricing loaded F350’s for towing, which were touching up to about $100,000, or 60% of the price of my home…

My point is comparing vehicles by price is fraught with variables which defy comparison…

Interesting the price of F150 Lightning has stabilized now that inventory has caught up with sales.

Brand loyalty means the Lexus will do well, as Toyota owners no longer have the FJ or Land Cruiser…

Sorry, but I have to disagree with you.

Taken from my standpoint. I don't like Lexus, or any other luxury brand. Yes, since the Bronco (6G) was first delivered we've seen all kinds of people who came over from BMW, Lexus, and so on. But that's just the crowd that wanted the next BIG thing and have since moved on because it's too loud, drives like a truck.... blah blah blah.

Ford is targeting the Jeep crowd and "hopefully" former Bronco owners (like myself). And if I had to guess, we could give 2 sh*ts what any luxury brand puts out.
How come every time I try to post “give 2 sh*ts” the letter I is always in my post and I gotta sensor myself? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

They aren't going to get Jeep conquest sales with that thing.
But wanna bet you see more of them on the road than Broncos?
I’ll take that bet

Well, I got the cheap a$$ BL, so that Lexus is almost twice what I paid. You have a bad case of buyers remorse. And your posts and replies indicate how bad it is.
Our '84 CJ (Yes, we have owned it, wheeled it and daily driver for 39 years) is still going Paid $10k for it.
Still, not at all interested in a Lexus, no matter the quality, price, longitivity. Call me clueless if you want.

Me too, and I can kind of see how people that have paid ADM or even MSRP after the hikes would have some remorse, the value isn't as good...which is a big reason why I don't like Toyota, poor bang for your buck.

Another big reason is on display here, some of the worst fanbois of any brand.

you can't argue with fanboys. I have no preference for car companies. I just buy stuff I like. I love the way the bronco looks and that is what originally drew me to it. It's not a guarantee that I won't be drawn to a different vehicle. Hell, if the rumors about the scout coming back are true I might just change to that, however if the rumors are true and it's electric I will pass. I had an EV and they are just not worth it till they can improve the range and charging times.

Big fan of the old Scout, and the new renderings look great. But the whole EV just doesn’t do it for me. Even if it was a hybrid, I would get it.

Toyota was winning off road competitions with the land cruiser long before ford was.
Well, it's hard to find any evidence of that. The Land Crusier was originally developed by Toyota from a WWII captured American Jeep. Then as an aid to the Korean War, the U.S. Military asked Toyota to build a Jeep based on US Jeep specifications. So, like the Range Rover in Europe, the BJ/FJ Land Cruiser is an Asian copy of the Iconic WWII Bantam Jeep.

The Bronco on the other hand won 8 Off Road championships...

Having both an EV and a Bronco, both have different uses. For running around a errand-running, my ‘17 Focus EV is everything I need.

For fun the Bronco is hard to beat.

Waiting for it, for me, was not as painful as for some, but the waiting definitely should cure someone of any buyers remorse, as said condition is usually related to a rash or uninformed decision, neither of which should happen if ordering and waiting…

I do like my Ford vehicles, as I enjoy dealing with similar systems across vehicles… if that makes me a “fanboy” then, ok, I’ll wear that name….

Highly unlikely based on fords track record. Most recalls the past 3 years of any manufacturer.

So I doubt you’ll be wheeling after 20,000 miles. LOL.

Looked it up on the internet looks like a more expensive 4runner. It just doesn't shout offroader to me. But I'm sure I'm wrong. Not my style I'll stick with the bronco.

Personally, the Bronco, in my opinion, looks way better than the Lexus mall crawler. As for "real off road chops", that is a joke you are making is it not? Good luck finding one of these on most trails that you will find a Bronco.

Now that the smoke has cleared...can't wait to take my doors and top off tomorrow like the new Lexus...

If I wanted something where doors don't come off, I would get the Defender or a 4Runner (I loved my Xterra #RIP)...but then no one will talk to me every time I'm at the gas station.

Your premise about a new luxury fixed-roof SUV from Lexus is going to pose as a sales threat to a non-luxury removable-roof ORV from a non-luxury manufacturer is completely asinine. Most posters in this thread tried to kindly explain it to you, and you have for no justifable reason, just climbed up their asses over their accurately stated opinions.

I don't give a flying crap if you own four Fords or not, your ill-concieved premise has nothing to do with brand loyalty. Wose is now you double down on your opinion that Ford's suck and don't last to high mileages because the company is based in Michigan and assembles vehicles in Michigan just makes you look even more stupid. If you think Fords suck, then continuing to personally own multiple examples of Fords indicates even more you are a dumbass and could concoct such a stupid premise that is the topic of this thread.

You unjustly insulted me and many others because of our posts. Everyone started out nicely pointing out the premise is flawed because the GX and Bronco are in different market classes. I'm just telling you in plain language the topic of this thread is stupid.

Apologies for being rude, but you deserve it.

I just don't see wheeling with an EV. With the limited range EV have, then add the inefficiencies wheeling brings to energy consumption, there is real range anxiety to deal with. A hybrid solution at least lets you bring gas with you.
