I am not going to retract all the good things I have said about the Ford Bronco, but there is a new player in town, and there is no question this player is for real. Enter LEXUS GX 550.

I AM not going to get into the specifications, you can look all that up for yourself, because as of 8:00 pm last night it was all over the internet. But if this vehicle lives upto to its look and its on paper specs the bronco, the jeep, the Land Rover, Mercedes SUV's, and all other off road SUV's had better take notice especially if Lexus has the price point between $ 65,000. and say around $ 80,000.00 loaded.

I have to be honest if I was looking at a loaded Wildtrak at $ 70,000.00, A loaded bronco raptor at $ 97,000.00 MSRP, or a LOADED GX 550 at say $ 80,000.00 the bronco raptor would be out and it would be a very tough choice vs. the Wildtrak with even having to spend $ 5000.00 to $ 10,000.00 more.

Lexus just said, " hold my Japanese Beer ! ". And I mean that in a very good and intimidating way.

Wrong answer and wrong vehicle. This is a all new GX 550.
"GA-F Platform and Suspension
The 2024 GX shares the GA-F platform introduced on the current-generation LX 600"

The 1st gen Lexus LX was the Lexus version of the legendary Toyota Land Cruiser. A great truck with a giant 4.5 L I6. Past Gen 1 the LX turned into a luxobarge by Gen 3. The GX was based on the smaller Land Cruiser Prado.

Both the current LX and new GX platform share the full size Land Cruiser platform.

As a ford bronco owner you almost feel a little taken advantage off at the bronco prices when you see the GX 550.
Thing is butt ugly....

Thank goodness you aren't in marketing(at least I hope not) -because if you took a poll of potential or current Bronco owners, you'd find out that an overwhelming percentage would have absolutely ZERO interest in the GX550. For a variety of reasons....

" It shares the platform with the current LX 600, which is a excellent platform ". But the GX is a more capable off road machine more similar to the Landcruiser Prado.

The other big significance the GX 550 has going for it is it is built at the world famous Tahara Plant in Japan, which is considered the BEST automobile factory in the world for build quality. Unfortunately the same can not be said for Dearborn. And this is coming from someone who owns 4 Ford vehicles. Unfortunately , facts are facts.

Starting price for the Bronco... $34K. Starting price for the GX $65K. The Bronco is not a luxury vehicle and was never intended to be one.

Talk about no clue.

Although the difference Einstein is that the GX 550 will do everything a bronco will do off road and it will last longer with zero issues. You can actually off road in luxury for almost the same price ( higher end models) and the build quality is on another level.

Do you really want to discuss the amount of quality issues the bronco has had since its inception. Oh and by the way, there are Raptor R’s still sitting in Dearborn that where built in January because ford will not ship them due to quality issues.

Go see if Lexus Japan has this problem. And I own 4 ford vehicles.

Meh.....To me this looks to be in competition with the Jeep Grand Cherokee / Ford Expedition kind of vehicle. Regardless, it does not look to be in the same genre as the Bronco /Jeep Wrangler. I am not saying I wouldn't consider it if I was looking for a luxury SUV, I am just saying when I look at it's design and features, I don't see it replacing my Bronco any more than my Explorer Platinum would.

Unfortunately you can not compare a Jeep Cherokee or a ford platinum expedition to the GX 550 as far as off road capability or build quality. Not even in the same class.

The bronco is more comparable to maybe a forerunner at best. GX is in another class.

god that thing is ugly. Wouldn't exactly say the bronco has a problem from what looks like another expensive SUV. Plus the top and doors do not come off.

Lol. I've owned 9 Ford vehicles since 1978, so who gives a shit?

So when did I actually insult you? You are getting your panties all wadded up by arguing with yourself. Did I ever write anything about build quality between a Ford and a Lexus? I use Deming's definition of quality, "fitness for use". My $38K Bronco has the quality I expected from it for the purposes I will use it. It's been near perfect since I bought it. The driver's MIC top panel needed an adjustment. BFD.

Einstein wouldn't compare a luxury SUV from a Luxury brand automaker to an ORV from a non-luxury brand automaker* that is meant to remove the doors, roof, and wheel off road and get dirty as shit inside. So you are correct, I'm an Einstein.

* Hence the joke about a Lincoln Percheron.

Apparently you don't remember when Toyota's were first sold in the US, they were absolute garbage for many years till at least the mid 80,s. On a side note I doubt many Jeep people would be interested in the gx 550 either. It just plain isn't in the same market as the Bronco or Wrangler two totally different audiences.

sounds like the competition would be with a Land Rover defender, not the bronco. The Lexus is just another vehicle that will advertise off-road capabilities and not one of them will leave the road. I would love to see the Lexus go rock crawling with bronco's and jeeps and see what really happens. Granted many bronco owners probably won't take theirs off-road, but when they do it won't be because they took a wrong turn. The Lexus is cute though in a soccer mom kind of way

And lol at the GX front overhang. Luxury overlanders will be ripping off all that giant plastic big time. Bronco's modular bumper with lowers removed, eh not so much.
