I trust the dirt

May 03, 2023

If you feel like saying it, say it!

One of my favorite off roading quotes:

"Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, Wow! What a Ride!" - Hunter S. Thompson
What a life for a crust of bread.

Schuller (of the Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove, CA) adapted Norman Vincent Peale's "Power Of Positive Thinking" into a more flexible "Possibility Thinking," which to me always works out as "Improbability Thinking."

Interestingly, they share some theological DNA with Mary Baker Eddy's Christian Science, which Mark Twain pilloried as "Neither Christian, nor a science."

I myself subscribe to "The Power of Positive Pessimism:" Expect the absolute worst, and you're never disappointed. In real life, that means nobody remembers what I do right, but they never forget what I do wrong.
