Poor ride quality after upgrading tires and wheels?

I recently got my 2022 Bronco Big Bend and decided to upgrade the tires and wheels. I expressed to the outfitter that I most likely wouldn't be taking my Bronco off road any time soon and was looking to keep the same ride quality it has on pavement but upgrade the look. It was suggested that I stay with 17" wheels and change the tires to 33" from the 32" OEM Bridgestone Duelers. I went with the Fuel Covert D694 wheels and 285/70R17 Nitto Ridge Grappler tires. After getting the upgrade, my Bronco looked fantastic but the ride quality really changed and became rough with vibrations that I wasn't feeling with the standard equipment. The outfitter rebalanced the wheels which didn't make a difference. Anyone else have this issue? Thanks.20220712_115354.jpg20220712_090239.jpg

I installed oem SAS wheels and tires from a wildcat on my 2dr OBX. Ride suck’s compared to the stock setup. You feel every bump shake rattle and they are louder. Would love to know what tire pressure to run as I believe the SAS is 39 psi. My original tires were 35 psi. I also have been told to install the SAS bilstiens for a better ride? Any truth or knowledge of that fact?

If it was me I would go with the MFG label on the door sill, 35 psi. I would at least try it to see if it made a difference. Just a suggestion

I have the Sasquatch package with the stock 35 inch Goodyear "Territory" tires on a Base 2dr with 2.7 ltr Auto. I start to get a noticeable vibration up front at 83 MPH. It does smooth out around 87 or so.

How much pressure do you have in the tires?

Keep in mind the stock OBX tires are SUV tires designed primarily for on-road travel with a bit of off-roading. The Sasquatch tires are a light truck hybrid all-terrain/mud-terrain tire designed primarily with off-roading in mind.

Your not going to get the same ride quality with an passenger/SUV tire as you will with an off-road light truck tire. Just two different tires designed for different things.

You can definitely drop the pressure to see if that helps. Will impact fuel economy a bit but ride quality may improve. Unlikely you’ll be able to achieve the same ride quality you had with the stock setup though.

I know how this is going to sound, but if you're never taking your Bronco off-road, why do you need bigger tires? Looks? If that's all, then keep in mind that there's a tradeoff between ride quality, road noise, and tire size/tread design. if you want to smooth SUV like ride, stick with SUV tires.

It’s looks! always wanted a fat tired Bronco since I saw one at a Ford Dealer in 1973! It’s not a daily driver but I haven’t driven my Expedition platinum in a month! I will put a front level lift in it next, if I can’t find SAS takeoffs, do an alignment and see what I think. And still need to put the soft top on it too. I can always put the stock OBX tires on it and sell the wildcat 35’s. But I still think the Bilstiens will help tremendously if I can find them.

Nothing wrong with wanting a specific look for your Bronco. Vehicle styling is a big part of the appeal.

I did a video after experimenting with pressures. Here's the result. It may not be right for you, but pressures are worth playing with. With the pressures I found, I've had no problems. Good luck!

Yeah, it's style vs substance on the paved streets. Same reason I didn't "upgrade" My son's a manager at a a major tire company and said there is no tire with that nice truck look that won't compromise ride quality and gas milage and unless I'm doing mostly off roading it wouldn't be a good move for me on a daily driver. Your rig looks great though and if you're happy with them you'll probably get used to the change.

The PSI label on jamb for our 37s says 39psi. We keep it between 36-41psi. Even pressure all around.

The ride quality on our modestly modified bronco has been perfect for almost a year now (1yr bronco delivery anniversary is next month 9/8/21).

The ride + MGV seats are an epic match if you want a plush smooth roadtrip or comfy rugged quick trip around town.

The only things that would make the ride better would be removing the 37 inch spare (I take it easy around town so hinges stay fresh holding 37 inch spare...and not interested in a brace upgrade) and upgraded tie rod/steering. Otherwise its a confident smooth cloud.

We run with traction control off/2WD. Plus condition the 4x4 system(s) monthly.

Whether cruising around town or going 100mph thru the desert, again, its a super smooth confident ride. Zero vibration. No suspension squeaks. No tire sliding. Plenty of grip. Extremely durable. Looks perfect IMO.

70 mph getting bad vibration from rear as steering wheel barely shakes. At dealer for 4 wheel rebalance and forscan adjustment to correct 2 mph speedo difference . Hopefully this cures it!

When you're adjusting the tire pressure, it also helps to check the contact patch by driving through some water and looking at the track pattern on a news paper or something like that. Too much pressure and the edges wont have as much contact, too little and the center will get wacky. You want it nice and planted.

From the dealer, my 35s were at 42psi, which just seems really high to me, but then the rim is pretty wide.
