Yes, Jesus is coming! But not that good news! For those of you that only read the latest posts but don’t dig deeper into all of the News, Events and all the other BN categories, threads and posts that are available, there is a chance for you that have some time, to get out and hit the road on 3/28-3/30. There is a Bronco Nation Base Camp coming up for all of us. It will be two nights and three days of hanging out, hitting the trails and breaking bread with other BN members in beautiful Moab, UT at the Red Cliffs Lodge. So jump over to the News section and take a look at the post “Registration Open for Bronco Basecamp in Moab 2024”. The price is definitely right and you will get tremendous bang for your buck! Hope to see you there!

My buddies dad is a in the off road hall of fame for cart building. His son, my friend, is an experienced Baja racer and cart builder himself. After he drove my Raptor I was telling him about the Jeep V8 and he said he wouldn't buy my Bronco in a V8 even if it came in a V8 version. Too heavy. The V6 is perfect. Just food for thought. You can see my friend driving his dad. I saw him yesterday. Fun talking off road.

I would agree the v-6’s available for the Bronco are plenty, certainly more power than my 70 Bronco had with a 302… it’s hard to transition die hard motor heads away from V-8’s

I’m far from an expert here, but someone posted on one of these thread a month or so ago that the 302 Boss was only 4 lbs heavier than the 2.7L. 🤷‍♂️

The V-6 with all the stuff it uses isn't much lighter than a windsor block with aluminum heads.
V6 2.7: 440 lbs
True enthusiast still prefer V-8s.

I would say my friend is a true enthusiast to say the least. One of the most experienced guys you can meet. Everyone has an opinion. Yours is valid as are others. To say true enthusiasts still prefer V-8s is simply wrong. I trust my friends experience.

What is your experience driving the 3.0 L, V6 Bronco Raptor in the Baja mode which spools the turbo's making it ready when you are?

I gave you a like for your post and the story. But I disagree with the Baja Racer guy. And it's really just a matter of preference for me. I'm not running Baja, I'm not crawling rocks. I daily commute, have a little fun in the snow when I see it. I tow a trailer, dying to use my winch on something. I will put my truck to work more than I will have fun in it. And for me, I'd take a n/a V8 over a turbo whatever any day. But like I said, just a matter of preference.

I agree with the preference. I like V-8s and opted for one in my last F150. In your situation I totally get it. I am not against V-8s in any way. I've owned five and I am not a car guy. I am a bike guy. The last was the 460 HP Mustang which I put a Roush Super Charger in it bringing it to 750 HP. Power is good but not everything from my experience. I also really like power. I just found it real interesting his take on how the vehicle ran as we were Bajaing and It made me realize this engine works well for it's intended purpose. He opened my eyes to another way of looking at things.

Edt: I just remembered I still own an 8.6 L, V8. A 520 Mercury boat racing engine and that is 520 at the prop. It sounds great and performs well.

My wife has an ST with the 3.0L and for a grocery getter that motor is a serious machine. I wish that motor was offered in other trim levels besides the BRaptor.

I should have mentioned that I am planning to attend SUPER CELEBRATION EAST - TOWNSEND, TN. More information can also be found in the event section of Bronco Nation as TK1215 mentions in the OP.

Been going to super celebration in Townsend since the very first one! Love it.

So I have a 2009 Hummer H3T Alpha and the Bronco Black Diamond with the 2.3L Ecoboost and manual. Both make about the same power, 300 HP and 320 TQ. The Hummer is about 500 pounds heavier. I finally got the Hummer's engine and transmission computers tuned, which vastly improved the transmission. The Bronco is on 32's and the H3T is on 33's.

I like both trucks, but if I had a choice the Bronco would have a V8 in it. The EcoBoost is fun to play with the powerband tied to the turbos, and I like reving a 4-cylinder race engine as much as anyone, but really, the small block just makes power everywhere.

Now fuel consumption? That EcoBoost has some magic in it somewhere. They should call it Voodoo.
