New Tires Big Bend Question

I am wanting to upgrade my Ford Bronco Big Bend with a 4.27 Rear Axle Locking Diff to bigger tires. It has the stock 255/75/17 32” tires and stock rims right now. I want to keep the same rims for now but get bigger tires without any lifts, spacers, anything. What is the biggest tire size I can put on? I was thinking 285/75/17 but I’m not sure. Photos with a description would be most helpful!

Thanks!

285s should fill out the wheel well nicely. It’s my understanding that you could go to 295, but there may be some rubbing on the crash bars (which would be an easy fix since you can just take of crash bars since they are bolted on). There is a thread on here where someone but bigger tires on their big bend. I’ll see if I can find it.

Thank you! I don’t have the money to do a lift or add spacers so if I can fit a 285/75/17 that would be great! I just joined this forum so I’m still getting used to navigating the site haha

Well welcome to the nation! Lots of good info on here and knowledgeable people. I plan on going with 285s on my stock big bend when it arrives. I did a lot of research on the sizes and that seems to be the sweet spot for no lift/ level and filling out the wheel wells.

I double checked and I think biggest you want to go is 285/70/17, not 285/75/17. I think they will be a bit too high if you go with the 75s and will still have to remove the crash bars. 285/70/17 should fit perfect.

I think you can put 34 by 10 1/2 BFG on it. You have to take out the crash bars. Saw a video on YouTube.

Remember, 285 is the width, not the height. 285/70/17 is about a 33" tire and 285/75/17 is about a 34". As stated above, if you want a 285/75/17, I'd opt for the 34" x 10.5" x 17". It's essentially the same as the 285/75/17, but narrower, which in my opinion is almost always better. Also, if you're talking about BFG AT tires, the 285/75/17 is "E" rated and the 34x10.5x17 is a "D" rated tire (going by memory here) and the "D" rated tire will probably net you a (very) slightly better ride due to the sidewall being less stiff.

I have decided to do the 275/70/17s! Thank you!

That’ll be a 33.3 inch tire. You can get away with that without rubbing I believe

It'd be better to go 285/75/17 so as not to add more width.

Or a 255/80R17.
