When I first got my bronco a few weeks ago I was trying out the different drive modes. Driving in sport is so much more fun but I was worried it was using up a lot more gas so I have been running a test to see. I ran two tanks on normal mode and I'm getting and average of 20.4 mpg. I'm almost finished with my second tank driving in sport mode and the average mpg is at 21.8. That makes no sense to me at all. I've done a lot of reading and did come across a couple people who also said they get better fuel mileage in sport mode. But most people say it is much better in eco or normal. I drive one tank on eco and it isn't fun to drive in that mode and the mileage was about the same as in normal mode. I've done the cold air intake and a high flow exhaust. Would those have anything to do with the mileage being better in sport mode? It's really interesting anyway. I'm glad because it is so much better driving in sport mode. Much more responsive. Shifting seems smoother. I don't know if I'm imagining that but it is. Has anyone else found this same thing here? Also I guess they must have changed it for the 2024 but I keep seeing posts of people saying they have to shift to 2 high when they use sport mode. When I put it in sport mode it's in 2 high. I don't have to change it to 2 high on my 2024.

it really doesn't make any sense that sport mode would put it into 4H .

Hmm, sport mode on Raptor is in 2H, weird.
I guess that is the difference between a Raptor and a regular SAS setup.

Just got my 24 with the SAS package it it does go directly to 4A in Sport, but thanks to this thread I press 2H and it moves to that. I'll try it for a while and see if mpg is affected.

Do you have stock size tires? If so I would guess that you will get the best mpg in eco and the worst in sport. That's what someone just told me. With the 35" tires and cold air intake and cat back dual exhaust mine gets the best mpg in sport mode. That's just what someone was telling me. So I don't know if true but it makes sense and has proved to be true on mine.

I have the SAS 35" Goodyear MT from the factory. I will be driving back home to Orlando from Naples tomorrow will check the mileage then. It's about a 3.5 hour drive. I may drive an hour on each mode and see the difference

Thanks. Yah. Let me know if it gets better or worse mileage. I'm just curious. I think depending on what mods or package the bronco has the different driving modes will be better for each one. I'm going to test eco better on my next tank. I just literally hate driving in that mode. It's so slow and clunky. Lol. But I need to give it a proper chqnce to test the mileage. I went through one complete tank with it and part of another and the mileage was worse than in sport. But I'll check it through another whole tank to be sure. But so far what I'm seeing is that it really depends on what mods you have and what package. I think the bare bones bronco from the factory with no mods will get the best mileage on eco then normal and the worst mileage on sport. And then like the salesman told me he thinks they just changed it on the 2024' on some models but not all that when you go into Sport mode mine stays in 2h while other years and models will swit h it to 4h. But if it does put you in 4h you can switch it back to 2h. Even if it is in 4h the fwd isn't engaged unless it senses slippage. So it still is driving in 2h until the road conditions worsen and it senses slippage. I don't really know if driving in 4h increases or decreases mpg or if it's the same as driving in 2h. I'll have 5o run that test too. I know my hh3 Ran constant in 4h. I did as many mods as I could it it and I think I was still only getting in the low 20's on it. But I will say this bronco iscmy favorite vehicle I have owned out of all the jeeps, wranglers and jk's an my h3 and Rangers. This bronco juat blows them all away in a lot of different ways. I really enjoy doing these tests too like to see what mode is best to drive in. Unfortunately I'm only able to show results for my bronco big bend model with the mods I've done. But maybe it can give others an idea. But yah. Let me know what your mileage is driving back like that. Thanks.

I totally agree. Of all of the aftermarket exhausts I hvhave Heard for 4 cylinder motors they sound terrible. For the most part. We can't get that amazing muscle car v8 sound out of a tiny motor. But out of all of the ones I heard I found the forsa cat back dual exhaust and I think it sounds good. It has a deep rumble. And it rumbles a lot. And crackles every single time I slow down or down shift and slow down. I love that sound. It's not a v8 sound but I think it's the best I've heard so far. I'll have to make a video and post it. There are some videos on youtube of it. But I'm waiting for my replacement blow off valve to come back from California. So I'll do the video of both sounds when I get that back. Yah, I'm not driving that fast. Our speed limit on the highways here are 70 and I got 75 tops.

Gotcha gotcha.

I never use 6th, so 75-80, wont drone at all? Thats what killed my Audi for me was the noise, why Im picky about what I do from this point on

I really don't want to throw water on this discussion, but MPG data collection is one area of my car geekiness. I have lots of data for my cars over the past 30 years, tracking and keeping records of every fill up. I keep a log book in each car. For one single car I have over 400,000 miles of fuel data. I always fill up to a full tank.

What the data show is MPG averages per tank can vary by a significant amount. Taking note of a few tank fulls of gas with varying the octane, or driving style, or drive mode (if the vehicle offers them) will not tell you anything. Variations of a few tenths of a MPG or even a full MPG, statistically mean nothing. The results get much better over time and distance and keeping records of fuel consumption, but just one or two tanks, tells you nothing regarding trends related to the variable you are trying to test for.

Tha k you. I am seeing some changes now as I keep testing. I just did my fourth tank on standard mode and it's up to 21.6 mpg. And oon Sport mode it's 21. So the standard has passed up the sport mode. I pretty much drive the same route everyday so the driving conditions stay the same overall. But even if I'm just getting q or even 2 mpg better in standard I'm going to drive in sport full time. The driving experience is just so much better in sport. Shifts smoother. Much more responsive. Much more power. So I'm seeing that the mpg numbers are fluctuating. There just doesn't seem to be a big enough difference for me to justify driving in standard or eco mode. My findings are that it's just not fun to drive in those modes. Lol. At all. It's interesting those first two tanks I went through in each mode had sport getting the best. Maybe because it was brand new? I have no idea. But I know one of the companies I got a part from said the part may not work to full p9twntial for a couple weeks until the computer in my bronco since and starts learning it and working with it well. So I don't know if that's the same for stock factory programs too or not. But the mileage in each mode has definitely changed. Not a ton. But definitely got better in standard. I'm not even going to test in eco because it's not even enjoyable to drive in standard. So eco is completely out of the question. I may put it in standard or eco if I'm driving in traffic or something. I don't know.
