Monitor, Radio, CarPlay Not working

Hey everyone. My monitor and CarPlay started acting up recently. CarPlay would start disconnecting and screen would sometimes go black. Today the monitor quit working. The radio does not work, phone won’t connect, backup monitor does not come on. Has anyone experienced this issue? Any suggestions?

As moderators we literally have no pull in this. Maybe the admins do. If and when I have this issue I will be in contact with my service guy and then shoot a PM to @Ford Motor Company. What has been your dealerships response been to your issues? Shoot @Ford Motor Company a PM with your VIN # and your dealership name and your contact person there. Good luck and please let us know what they say.

I don't have a dealership. I bought the truck and have never taken back to any dealer. I was thinking Ford MUST know about this, why don't they push an update to my truck I have it connected to Wifi and updates enabled? Going to a dealer is a huge drag. My time is worth something. If they could duplicate it, what would they say or do? I would lose 1/2 a day or more, need someone to make the 40 mile round trip to drop me off, pick me up, be without my truck during that time, what a hassle. Ford has to KNOW their stuff is full of bugs. If not then they don't care. If they do and haven't come up with a software upgrade they can push to my truck then they don't care. That is JMO. This forum is Ford company sponsored is it not? I will shoot an email to them thank you for the link.

I don't have a dealership. I bought the truck and have never taken back to any dealer. I was thinking Ford MUST know about this, why don't they push an update to my truck I have it connected to Wifi and updates enabled? Going to a dealer is a huge drag. My time is worth something. As far as I am aware this is not a Ford sponsored site. I know that they monitor the site and that individuals can and have sent them a private message directly. Your first step is to go to a dealership, any dealership and report the issue. Ford won’t have any paper trail to refer to until you do that. Take the TSB information with you when you go in.

Ok thanks I'll see what they say. Maybe the TSB is legit

The dealer has simply told me they “can’t replicate the problem therefore there is nothing they can do”. They told me to bring it in when the issue is occurring. It’s gone out (monitor, radio, and, newly noticed, the usb ports) multiple times since, I just haven’t been able to get the vehicle to the dealer while it’s out. I got within a few hundred yards one time but then it came on. I videoed it one time and sent to the tech. Going to try again Monday. I’ve noticed it seems to do it most frequently when it’s “cold” like in the morning or night.

This is EXACTLY what I expected to have/experience if I took my truck to the dealer.
To be honest, the "just take it to your dealer" response is par for the course on forums like this.
I also sent a private message to FoMoCo, no response yet.
I'm guessing it will be "'just take it to your local dealer".
My experience with dealer service advisors, especially Ford had not been that good. To be fair, Chevy sucked too.
To also be fair, what is the point of giving access to FoMoCo to install updates connected to my truck, while connected to my Wifi when something simple like this supposedly requires a dealer visit? That tells me that they don't:
1. Have any idea that their software is full of bugs;
2. Don't know how to fix it.
I DO appreciate people on this forum including admins trying to help, very much so. Thank you again.

Well I heard back from Ford rep on BN. Their advice was to work with dealer. Not much help IMO.

Yeah I'm shocked LOL. Sorry bud we are in the same boat. I'll wait until I HAVE to take it to the dealer for misc. recall BS, or a warranty repair and then they can nail everything at one time. I don't want to part with my truck for a routine fishing expedition on their part.

Well, I see that I'm not the only one to have a quirky screen. Mine has frequently had issues. Most within 5 minutes of getting on the road. This is a list of what I've experienced, screen going dark completely right after starting and after going down the road a bit, (different issues), Sirius still playing but screen goes blank with a header at top, (this finally was corrected after hitting the header list at the top of the blank screen), Horse screen, (like when you first enter before starting the vehicle), while driving, glitching of signal, intermittent phone connectivity issues while driving, (connect device message that appears then disappears while driving), etc..

My CarPlay will disconnect exactly in the same spot every time I drive by there. It's so weird. It's like something in the area is interfering with the connection.

I don't know if there was a software update but the issue with my screen seems to have resolved itself. I came back from an 11 day vacation in Hawaii and it was working fine so I'm thinking that the software update took place while it was parked in my garage.

Yeah I thought mine got fixed recently too. Then right back to: "What phone? What source? No media found". Then it tries to connect to a phone not even in the truck. And Car play wont work, which is better because it tries to connect to Pandora which I wasn't even using and then the fight starts all over. When I reconnect the phone in the truck then I have to start all over with what I was listening to. So lately I take the key with me, lock her with the engine running so when I come back out from the store or post office I don't have a 50/50 chance of having to start all over again. Stink 4 sucks.

Believe it or not I am STILL having the same issue. The dealer hasn’t been able to “locate the issue” because by the time I get it to the dealer it starts working and the dealer is always “too backed up” to get to it right away. Aside from leaving it at the dealer for weeks at a time, I’m not sure what to do. Could try another dealer I guess. I think they should just start replacing components until it starts working consistently. Sorry just venting but also wanted to revive this post to see if anyone else has had this issue (I know I can’t be alone!) and if your dealer has found a fix. Can’t believe I spent this much money on a vehicle and @Ford Motor Company acts like they just don’t give a damn.

The dealer has now had possession of my rig for 22 days and yet to get it fixed! Sounds like they will be replacing the Sync module (APIM to be exact) so let’s hope that works. They ordered and received a new middle roof panel for roof misalignment issue. At least that was fixed while they have it.

THIS is WHY I won't go to the STEALERSHIP. Just BS and roundy round. They wanted $1100 to put shocks/struts on my wifes 2014 Escape. When I went into Diamond Ford in Lancaster CA they were watching ESPN and had nothing going on. Big Surprise. AND I already bought the shocks/struts(Bilsteins). I think they were pissed they couldn't get mark up on the stock shocks so they added the extra $$ to the labor. @ $150 an hour is it REALLY nearly 8 hours labor to change these, including front alignment? My favorite tire store didn't think so they did it for $400.

Still not working. Such BS. I’ve had the car 2 years now, been back to the dealer 5 times just for this issue (plus 7 other unrelated issues that have been resolved), they have had my Bronco at the dealer for a total of 96 days since I purchased. Believe it or not, still love my Bronco. Just want to know that when I get in the radio is going to work, not sometimes, EVERY TIME.
