If You Have Carpet

I have a Badlands, w/Lux built, waiting for delivery. If you have the carpet option, are the floor plugs to drain water still in the floor?

Thanks Dave

They are not.

The holes in the floor of the Bronco itself are still there, but they are under the carpeting and you can't actually get to them.

I've got a diagram of where the non-washout (carpeted Broncos) drain plugs are here, for the curious, but @RagnarKon is right.

I never thought about that - but the Badlands Sports have the rubber floor too. That's cool!

Go figure! It came with carpeted mats. I had to add the Weather Tech! I hate carpets. It was horrible when the girls were younger. Come to think of it? It's horrible while they are older, because they don't clean their cars, I do!

Thanks for the diagram. Can you tell me if the carpet is installed as loose as in the JK Jeeps? If that's the case then you can remove the carpet in minutes. So if the plugs are there and work this will be OK.

I've never tried to pull up the carpet in a Bronco yet, so someone with carpet may want to chime in. I'm also curious to how close the active dummy plugs are to active plugs in function.

So what does it mean passive plugs?

From talking to Esteban back in the day, the active dummy plugs do drain water underneath the MGV/ carpet, in "emergency" situations.

So looking at the diagram then going out to my Bronco, the passive plugs are hard to find without pulling material up.

Here's from inside, where you can only see the active plug. A passive plug should be further up in the foot well, closer to the door.

From the exterior (look for the daylight to see the active plug to get your bearings)

I’d have added weather tech even if I had MGV just to not wear holes in the MGV.

So funny, while under the truck many times, I have passed over those plastic caps from the bottom. I always wondered what the hell were they for.

Duh!

Sometimes things really are right in front of your face!

PXL_20230524_195052018.jpgSo, here is another question since I don't have the rubber floors. With the ridges and ribs in the picture, it looks as if it is actually formed hard plastic. Is it more like a rubber floor matt or a hard piece of plastic (the entire floor liner)?

It's not as rubbery as some without it might think but it is also not close to hard plastic. It flexes a lot in the rear footwell (like you can press it down about a quarter to half an inch in places) and as it wraps up under the rear seats. I wish I could post a video because then you could get a better idea of what I'm trying to explain. But you can feel it as a layer as you flex it down to the floor pan.

Adding a pic of how it wraps in the rear.

I wish the outer banks had that option, but what are active dummy plugs? Is it like the other drives on the road, active dummies. lol

🙈
They reportedly will drain if water gets in a carpeted Bronco, kind of like a weep hole.
