I did a thing. CB install + general disconnect warning

After a month of procrastinating, I did it!!

My old garbage CB is now installed. I’m waiting to get a new CB for when the Archetype BYOD rail I ordered is eventually made/ shipped.
After watching the BN tutorial and cussing at my electrical incompetence for a while, I finally got it done. Thanks to the Aux switches and pre-run wiring harness it was made 10000x easier for me. Now I just have to tune my antenna and I’ll be eavesdropping on the road in no time! Plus I have a PA speaker I need to install. But that’s a headache for another day.

Fun fact, when you reconnect the battery, your window auto roll-down/ roll-up may be disabled. Don’t spend 10 minutes freaking out like I did. There is a reset procedure in the manual, which I’m including in the second pic.

10-4 good buddy - Nice job!

Pretty much any vehicle with auto windows will require a reset post battery replacement / disconnection and the process is essentially the same for all to relearn the window limits.

Where/how did you mount the antenna to get the proper ground plane?
I have a softop badlands Sasquatch, coming in a few weeks. I plan to install both a ham radio and cb radio but haven’t figured out the antenna situation yet.

My semi-permanent solution is a small hidden magnetic based antenna mounted to a metal plate im going to glue to the interior of the rear window seal. Right now it’s magnetically hanging onto the inside rear frame pillar. Excuse the mess I’m in the middle of a multi-location work trip and haven’t been well organized.
I’m going to eventually line a better antenna to a mounted plate on the tailgate hinge. I don’t have a welder nor am I going to try to find someone who will charge me 300% the cost of a Jeep tailgate coax mount that’s readily available on the market. So I’ll bide my time until someone releases a good product on the open market. On B6G there’s a really cool custom fab that a red Base owner did which includes the plate mount for the coax/ antenna plus some carabiners for other stuff. I’d love to buy something like that.

CB is outdated, get the gmrs micro-mobile units. Jeep jamboree switch a couple years ago.

I have a 15w unit that is getting 10x the range over the cb I had. Mine is remotely mounted out of sight with a plug in my console.

I like the idea of a CB in the Bronco, but if there's something more current in functionality, I would embrace that. Excellent use of the Aux switch panel, though. Have you got plans for the remaining switches?

I ordered with the switches but I didn't have any specific needs for them and a built-in gmrs radio can get power off the lighter plug wires.

Possible uses:
- amber driving lights
- on-board air compressor relay
- winch relay
- more led lights

After ordering I learned the aux switches displace a drop down gun glasses holder so I'm kinda regretting choosing the aux switches (that I didn't have a need for)!

Did you put in the PA horn?
PA's are fun, if you are stuck in traffic you can whistle like a siren and pass traffic like its standing still.just kidding, I wouldn't recommend that or do it again.

Regardless of your final configuration, it’s great that you’re doing it yourself. It’ll come out fine if you take your time and devote some thought to it. Keep us updated!

It has been getting very difficult to mount, run power to and mount a antenna in/on vehicles for several years now. Good luck on y’all’s installs !
If anyone is on GMRS in the Mustang Ridge, TX area (20 miles south of Austin) I have a repeater on 462.625/467.625 DPL 226 feel free to use it.
