HOSS 3.0 standard on the 2023 Wildtrak. Very nice, but I have a question regarding the bumper.

Hello to all here on the forum. I have a couple of questions regarding the 2023 Wildtrak conversions. I see that these Wildtraks will now come standard with the HOSS 3.0 option as standard equipment for the 2023 model year.

A part of this Hoss 3.0 package is a steel bumper. My questions - is this the same steel bumper that was offered as an option during model years 2021 and 2022? Also, will the optional brush guard work on the HOSS 3.0 steel bumper?

Thanks in advance for your response.

We wont really know until they release the order guide.

But, like you said, the Capable bumper was part of the Hoss 3.0 package for MY 22, so I would bet its standard on the WT for 23. I am also willing to bet, you can also option the Modular bumper too, just like you could in 22 with the Hoss 3.

The Ford brush guard works with the Mod bumper only, so if you are getting the Capable bumper, it wont work. There has not been as many aftermarket parts developed for the Capable bumper yet, but I have seen folks drill out and mount brush guards for the Mod on the capable. I dont know of any brush guards that are designed specifically for the Capable bumper but I could be wrong.

There's still some debate about that... as in, YMMV. I mean, I think maybe it has happened, but my sales guy and his rep were adamant that they could not option the Mod bumper with the WT/HOSS 3.0 combo. Others here said they could. It's maddening.

It's OK, I am fine sticking with the 'capable' aka steel aka whatever we wanna call it bumper. But I'm still not sure why it was a hangup unless because I had the TOW package it was throwing my GVWR over the limits.

Editing to note -- I have also not found any brush guards for the 'capable' bumper. But you do get fog lights and a dedicated switch! :p

Thanks gentlemen. I have no idea what a "capable" bumper is What are you referring to?

So back to my questions. Is the steel bumper with the HOSS package the same as the optional steel bumper?

YMMV - what is that?

You can do it on the build and price, and folks were able to get it on their order, but it may have required the dealership to manually enter some things. Honestly though, their ordering software appears to be as buggy as the B&P. Always important to remember that FoMoCo is not an IT company when dealing with them, :)

You can check out the "Capable" bumper (Ford's name for the steel bumper) and compare it with all other stock bumpers here: https://thebronconation.com/ford-bronco-capable-bumper-joins-options-for-2022/. edit: thanks, Mal!

I appears that the bump in price from the capable bumper to the Modular bumper is $270. Each step up, causes a bump in price. Boo

@Texas Bronco, I have the same question "(ABRREVIATION) What is that?". It seems that people assume that everyone knows what the acronym means, I know that I certainly do not and it would be nice if the person would type it out when it is first used and then followed by the acronym in parentheses, after that then the acronym or abbreviation can be used going forward. I have sent a Direct Message (DM) to a moderator asking for a sticky post that has a list of acronyms/abbreviation that are common to Bronco Nation's (BN) forum and it's been almost a week with no reply. My suggestion is trying to improve the BN experience; Oh well as least I tried.

I'm sorry, CBWAR1, I haven't had a chance to work on this yet this week. My grandma passed away earlier that week and I've been helping my mom.

My apologies for using the acronym... I've spent a LOT of time on various forums, as both a member and admin, and that one is fairly common. After a while it becomes second nature even if you try to avoid it. Perhaps you'll find this link helpful:

https://slang.net/terms/web_forums
Some of the acronyms/abbreviations/slang that's listed on that site I've never heard (I have been called a 'Cinnamon roll'), but others such as 'YMMV' can be found there. If you click on the slang term, it will link you to a definition and explanation. It even has a search function. About the only slang I've seen used that is specific to this site are Bronco-centric ones such as 'HOSS', or those that are trim-specific (BB=Big Bend, BD=Black Diamond, OB/OBX=OuterBanks, BL=BadlandsWT=Wildtrack, BRAPTOR=Bronco Raptor).

Hope this helps! (y)

Thanks. Yes, it does and still it would be great to have specifically one for the Bronco Nation's (BN) guests and members to peruse. This can be appended by moderators so that it is a living post. It may be a good idea to have a moderator post a thread "Calling on all Aberrations/Acronyms that are BN specific" that way the load doesn't necessarily have to fall on one moderator to find them all, only to compile them. Of course, that is if the idea is accepted. No worries either way, as I will probably still be scratching my head "what the heck does that mean?":p

Sorry, but YMMV is not common at all - not on any forums or sites that I frequent. Personally I try to avoid acronyms since it literally takes three or four seconds to spell it out and I never know who is reading my post. As someone else mentioned, the accepted way to use acronyms is to spell it out and then put the acronym in parenthesis after the first use then, if you continue to use it, the acronym will suffice.

YMMV has been in common Internet usage as far back as when Abraham Lincoln suggested the idea of a World Wide Web. Does no one RTFM any more?

Geez. I didn't know this was English class and there were rules around the use of acronyms. Here I was just trying to be helpful. I'm not going to put forth my curriculum vitae (CV) of forum experience, but I'll try to avoid using them in the future lest I confuse anyone still consulting the Encyclopedia Brittanica instead of Googling something they don't understand. Had I known I'd spend more time explaining 'YMMV' than typing out 'Your Mileage May Vary', I'd have certainly avoided it at all costs!

Next time I see Al Gore, I'm going to ask why he didn't plan for this.
