Ford Performance Tune Question

Pardon me if this has already been discussed, but I have a two part question about the Performance Tune for the Bronco.

1. Do I need to buy two performance tools, one for each of my Broncos? I have a 2.3 and a 2.7, can I use the same tool on each? If this is indeed the case, I'm assuming there is a separate software for each or is it the same software that will automatically determine which engine I have and install the applicable software. I ask because the web page has the engines listed separately.

2. Is it really necessary to connect a battery charger of sorts while performing the software update/tune?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Disregard question 1. "Calibration and ProCal 4 tool are VIN locked."

Question 2 stands.

I've never had issues with batteries while installing tunes.

But I always run my vehicle for sometime before installing to get the battery full recharged for the 10 mins it takes to download and all the sequences it runs through. Your results may vary.

I installed mine without a battery charger. No problem.

It highly depends on the state of your battery.

If your battery has degraded to the point where Auto Start/Stop no longer functions, then... yeah... you should probably connect it to a battery tender. Otherwise you should be fine, as @Mikes2021Bronco said, just drive the Bronco around a bit ahead of time to ensure the alternator tops off the battery.

Note that Ford uses an AGM battery in the Bronco, so at charge it should be 12.5 volts or higher without the engine running (ideally 12.7+ volts). If it's below 12 volts, you need to charge it or use a tender.
