I am having the ford performance chip installed today. Just curious what others have experience after installing the mod. What benefits have you noticed?

Can definitely feel the increase in throttle response and hp. Supposedly 30 hp with the chip but I have no way of doing real world testing. They’ll a small boost in hp with the IC but I’ll be running lower temps. Here is a scren shot of the description from Mishi.

A lot of people think this doesn’t effect their warranties. Read on.

SELECT FORD PERFORMANCE PARTS LIMITED WARRANTY
Rev. February 14, 2021
Ford Motor Company, The American Road, Dearborn, MI 48025, provides a Limited Warranty on select Ford Performance Parts and as described herein when installed on late model Ford vehicles. This warranty works in conjunction with -- and does not void -- the Manufacturer's New Vehicle Limited Warranty. It is valid for the original retail purchaser of the vehicle and is transferable to subsequent vehicle owners.
Performance Packs and Component Parts
Performance Packs and Components are warranted for factory-supplied material or workmanship when correctly and completely installed on a late model Ford vehicle by an authorized Ford or Lincoln Dealer, Shelby American, Inc., or an automotive service technician certified by the Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) or endorsed by the Red Seal Program (RSE). This Performance Packs and Components Limited Warranty begins upon installation and registration of the part(s) with Ford Performance and remains in effect for the balance of 36 months or 36,000 miles / 60,000 kilometres, whichever occurs first, calculated from the start date of the manufacturer's New Vehicle Limited Warranty.
Installation of these select Ford Performance warranted performance packs and components by an authorized installer will NOT void your New Vehicle Limited Warranty. Engine, driveline and suspension concerns not caused by the use of Ford Performance parts remain eligible for warranty coverage according to the terms of the New Vehicle Limited Warranty.
Ford Performance parts are aftermarket parts. The use of Ford Performance parts may impact the performance characteristics of other systems of the vehicle. Even when operating properly, Ford Performance parts, such as these, have the potential to adversely impact other systems of the vehicle. If an adverse impact is caused by a warranted Ford Performance pack or component, the period and coverage of this Ford Performance Limited Warranty applies to the repairs.
Premium Fuel Requirement: Customers who purchase power upgrade packs, cold air kits with calibration, engine calibrations, or superchargers are required to use 91-octane or higher (“premium”) fuels at all times. Any failures associated with the non-use of premium fuel will be ineligible for warranty repair.
Performance Handling Pack FR3/FR3A Note: Performance handling packs are designed for "Track Day" ride and handling. Such performance standards suggest the vehicle ride will be more indicative of race performance vehicles. Certain vehicle conditions including, but not limited to, squeaks, rattles and harsh ride related to use of a Performance Handling Pack or components will not be covered under this Limited Warranty. The performance handling pack requires the use of original equipment size wheels only. It is strongly recommended after installation that the alignment be checked to ensure measurements are within factory specifications. Premature tire degradation will not be covered under this Limited Warranty. Contact the Ford Performance Call Center at (800) 367-3788 or [email protected] for front end alignment information.
Warranty Registration: This Limited Warranty requires that parts must be purchased from an authorized Ford Performance Distributor and installed by an authorized Ford or Lincoln Dealer, Shelby American, Inc., or an automotive service technician certified by the Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) or endorsed by the Red Seal Program (RSE). Proof of purchase is required for submission of warranty claims. Registration for this warranty must be submitted through the Ford Performance Call Center at (800) 367-3788 or [email protected] with the vehicle identification number (VIN), part installation repair order and date, Ford Performance part number,

Great information. Sounds like you are OK if you install stage one mods like K&N cold air intake (bolt on no calibration), Axle Back exhaust, oil separator and Sprint Booster V3. No premium fuel required (but preferred) and you still get Track Day ride like performance FUN. Warranty shouldn't be a problem. However, if you upgrade wheel package, be prepared for some tire degradation, especially if you drive it like "Track Day".

Understanding the warranty statement -
This Performance Packs and Components Limited Warranty begins upon installation and registration of the part(s) with Ford Performance and remains in effect for the balance of 36 months or 36,000 miles / 60,000 kilometres, whichever occurs first, calculated from the start date of the manufacturer's New Vehicle Limited Warranty.

If I understand this correctly, let's say my New Vehicle Warranty started Jan 1 2021 and I install it March 1 2023, I'm only getting 10 months of warranty coverage on this install, correct?

Or let's say I have 34,000 mile on this vehicle that I bought Feb 1 2022, I will only get 2,000 miles of warranty coverage, correct?

If I'm outside the 36 month or 36,000 mile warranty then this install has no warranty, correct?

I understand it does not affect my 5 year / 60,000 powered warranty.

I asking as there may be very limited coverage once installed by a Ford Tech, I may as well save the money and time and install it myself, many have and there are several you tube install video's to guide you along.

i installed it myself because I wanted full control when updates come along. I always uninstall tune when I bring it in for service. If they “flash” your ECU, it wipes away the tune.

Your kind a close.
You would be basically reducing your power train warranty by two years and 24 thousand miles. Ford’s language clearly states that any issue their tune causes is only covered for that 3 year and 36 thousand mile from in service date. It’s totally up to their discretion.
That said if Ford claims your engine, turbos, transmission, differentials etc. were damaged by their tune after that stated time frame it’s on you (and why wouldn’t they?).
Ford really wants everyone to buy these tunes. It’s a huge moneymaker/saver for them.
I plan on waiting for warranties to expire before any tuning , if at all. Ford’s tune is not very aggressive. At least on the 2.7…

Help me understand, I did not see how the use of this tune cancels out the Ford 5 year / 60,000 mile power train warranty. I'm reading this as the 3/36 just covers the "Tune Warranty" from original in service of the vehicle. If this is the case then its foolish to install the tune. What does the Tune 3/36 warranty cover? If, as you say "were damaged by their tune after that stated time frame it’s on you (and why wouldn’t they?)". That's insane to install the tune at least until after the 5/60 is expired. Why would anyone want to be responsible for Ford's tune on their dime if something goes wrong?

Well I guess the difference is if you want a tune, Ford’s is the only one that will at least give a person a bit of time coverage. No other tune will.
Ford’s tune warranty does cover everything that the factory one does but in reduces the time of their power train warranty. This reduction has no effect on other systems on the vehicle.
I guess the final decision of a person thinking about getting the Ford tune would be how much confidence they had in the Ford product durability. But 2 years and 24 thousand miles is a big slice to give up for a modest power gain.

For me it's not about horsepower, that does nothing for a Bronco, I'm not out for top speed, but I do like the 60 lb ft of torque. That's useful down low, something that can be felt and useful anytime, especially off road. It is a big tradeoff in warranty, no real way around it, the fact that the chip warranty takes effect at initial inservice date no matter when its installed, they kind of get you there. I'd feel confident the tune is sound, coming from Ford Performance, thisthis is a plus, can't see why they would not have engineered it to be sound. I guess that's why they want a dealer to install it, so it's documented at date and mileage of install so they can cut off the factory 5/60.

Yah I get all that. But it’s a bit hard to have a great deal of confidence in the long term drivetrain reliability if Ford doesn’t. If they did they wouldn’t have to reduce your warranty.
Like I said before it’s a wonderful deal for Ford.

This is really important information. Where are you getting this from?

I have a 2.3L manual and am considering the FP tune, but if it voids a warranty and/or a Ford ESP (which I am also considering), I’m not so sure it’s worth it.

Well if a person wants to spend $700 plus installation to reduce drivetrain warranty by 2 years and 24 thousand miles, that’s their choice. You have to remember that there has already been many manual transmission problems for new Bronco’s. Does anyone think adding additional power will help the situation? Ford loves to have folks reduce their warranty liability. It save Ford a lot of money.
Others claim this engine is so wonderful and powerful. So I ask why?
I love my 2.7😃, but I know it’s an automatic…
