Autoblog | Ford Can Now Stop Some Vehicles Starting, Even With The Key

Ford has introduced Start Inhibit on certain models, which aims to prevent theft by disallowing even someone with an authorized key to drive off with your vehicle, unless they have the pin or your app.

Would you like this on your Bronco or another Ford? Pros or cons you see? Is $7.99 a month worth it to you?

Interesting. Some may need this, but I certainly do not.

I remember the early threads of key cloning and RFID blocking after someone had their Bronco stolen from their house, and the one time my Jeep was victim of an attempted theft was when it was parked inside a walled and gated community, so I'm always slightly wary (but usually more concerned about a break-in over entire vehicle theft so I don't leave gear or bags available). I hate two-factor authentication though because I'm lazy, so I may also hate something like this, I don't know.

I'm so used to 2FA now in my job that it doesn't bother me.

Yeah, having been victimized by couple very clever broker acct fraudsters, we're very happy to have higher level securities in essentially every aspect of life. Yeah, these ain't the old days and we have to expect there really are crooks behind every phone call, text, email, unexpected visitor, tree, bush, boulder, etc, etc..

Cheers
