When the ford computers finally decide I am worthy and build my bronco it will be my first vehicle with push button start. I’m honestly not convinced of the security of keyless ignition systems so have been thinking about a way to disable the truck when I’m not in it. One of my current vehicles is a 1990 Chevy C1500 which are stupid easy to steal so I secured it by installing a hidden switch wired into the signal side of the fuel pump relay. Someone can jump in and crank all they want but unless they figure out how to power the fuel pump it’s not going anywhere.
Would it be possible to do something similar on the Bronco? I know that installing it would be down to finding the correct wire to splice a switch into and finding a suitable location for the switch that is easy to reach without being obvious, yet not easy to see if you don’t know to look for it. With all the computers in new vehicles will it cause massive problems on those occasions I forget to turn on the fuel pump and try to start it? With vehicle thefts on the rise everywhere just trying to come up with a good plan to make it more difficult to steal that won’t interfere with me enjoying driving it.
