Dealers To Be Held Accountable

This came from the 6G Forum...

From someone I know that works at a dealership:

Ford has been setting rules for the newer vehicles (Mustang Mach-E, Bronco, etc.) regarding advertising, sales prices, retail order compliance, etc. and enforcing them via an audit program for compliance. Dealers have to report scheduled retail orders that are cancelled by the customer or be in violation of the program rules. Dealers can lose allocation, lose incremental allocation and even be charged back for incremental allocation granted previously depending on the severity of the Dealer's violations.

The Dealers are being held accountable for their actions.

I hope this has Teeth, there’s a lot of people getting screwed out of their Bronco’s so some dirtbag dealer can make a few more bucks.

I had heard this news from my salesman. He said that the penalties were in the form of lost allocations for a specified period....first offense 30 day allocation loss....second one more severe and so on.....

I would hope this might stop the madness of the markups on already ordered and delivered units....I guess we'll see...

I have no problem with them asking what ever they want for dealer stock inventory, but Ford should demand they honor MSRP on customer orders.

I don’t think anything is going to stop dishonest people from being dishonest. Ford can lay down all the rules they want that won’t stop the dealers from overcharging and try to rip people off. Most of them have little to no integrity and don’t care. Somewhat like most politicians. :(

I agree! And, I think I have an honest dealership and they will honor the Purchase Agreement that they had me sign. But, as my Bronco is being shipped to the dealer, I had another thought come up....what will they do to my trade in valuation? Always something to worry about!!!

I'm a little skeptical. The dealerships have a powerfull lobbying force behind them. They got Ford to change their allocation formula and the Coalition of Auto Dealers in NJ has even sued Ford as recently as last year. Someone, I think it was an auto industry writer, said that the Ford needs the dealerships more than the dealerships need Ford. I'm starting to think this is true.

This has been in place since the beginning when the Bronco was announced I believe. If ford doesn't control the ADM's and doesn't restrict that, then it doesn't really matter. They can get an order in, hit with an ADM, reservation holder walks away, dealership notifies Ford that the reservation holder walked away, now they can sell it to whomever with no penalty. The only way this hurts the dealers is if they have to report the reason and honestly state it was because they hit the reservation holder with an ADM. Luckily, my dealer is not one of those, but as someone said, dishonest people will still be dishonest. Just my thoughts.

In the long run, if a Dealership is playing the "Shady Game Show" who will that hurt? it could only hurt those of us who are with these Dealership's playing those games. A Dealership with (example) 50 allocations, who breaks these rules and Ford punishes this Dealership and drops their allotment for a Month or even let's say a Year. Who really gets punished for this?
The consumer does! Dealerships will still have vehicles to sell, but you are left in the dirt with no where to go. All I can say is just hope that this is not your Dealership doing this, because I think most if us have waited long enough and we don't need something else to worry about.....

Luckily my dealer isn't doing that, and I hope that most aren't. I typically try to stay positive with my post and comments but this is something I thought about a long time ago, which is why I have kept in constant contact and developed the relationship with my dealer. Granted, I am using a small town dealer who was only getting 5 allocations this year and I was there 2 reservation holder. I am currently scheduled for delivery by January 6. We will see if that holds up. It will be almost 18 months from reservation to delivery for me. I was a first 24 hour reservation.

You're exactly right. Originally the dealership had to be 80% compliant and for MY22 they only have to be 60% compliant. Ford has put no teeth in this policy so don't expect anything to change.
While I give Ford the benefit of the doubt on commodity constraints and scheduling but the whole allocation system, allowing dealerships to charge ADMs on customer orders without consequences and this fake compliance program is all on Ford. Their dealership system is broken and they don't have the cojones to fix it.
