Currently waiting for an ordered bronco with a hard top. Was thinking that I could switch to a soft top and get the hard top from the dealer once they become available, thus possibly shortening the wait time.
Called my local dealer to see what the cost would be once the are available though the dealer. He looked it up and confirmed that yes they are not available, they have no idea when they will be available and in his words, "they really think highly of this three piece hard top roof at over $7,000". I had him clarify and he said that all three pieces will be sold seperatly and yes the cost is just over 7,000 combined.

Guess I'll wait and keep my hard top on my order

Yeah, best to stick with your original order and patiently wait if you want the hard top.

Waiting is the way to go. I took delivery of my 2 Door Black Diamond in December. I was a day one reservation. Obviously I couldn’t have switched because of the the two door but I could have sped it up by dropping tow package, changing the the 2.7 and losing Sasquatch. I wasn’t willing to compromise on a vehicle I’ve waiting years for. It was worth the wait.

Order the soft top and wait to see what the aftermarket brings. ADV is currently working on a hard top and it looks very promising. I would be willing to bet that the price will be within reach to many as well. I don't think at this point I would trust the Ford hard top anyway. Still seeing issues even with the 2.0 hard top.

I hope you're right, but if other aftermarket hard tops are an indication, the price will be as much as a vendor can sell it, which will likely be just under the OE. I've been watching a/m prices and they typically start at what makes sense for the buyer, then rise to what makes sense to the seller, and buyers follow. If OE is $7k, a like product, or better, should sell for similar, with no reason to think it'll be substantially less. In fact capitalism shows us it will sell for what the market will bear.

I’m holding out hope that aftermarket tops will be affordable.

My dealer told me months ago that the hard top as a separate order could be 8k. He said shipping was a big chunk of that cost.

They may be affordable but then you need to figure in freight with a carrier on a partial load. Thats the issue in my eyes

I would be good customer service of ford to offer those of you who really wanted a hard top and basically had to go soft in order to even get their broncos, a substantial discount, maybe even cost. Might help them recover some reputation.

It would be good customer service for ford to offer those of us waiting with reservations from July 2020 to get us to the front of the line or a discount! It wasn't our fault MIC failed but anyone can change their choice of tops if they are impatient and want a Bronco sooner that wasn't their true order, that is a choice they made.

Can you Emagine what a mess production would be in, if those that bit the bullet and switched hadn't. There should be some compansation for that. You are right as well, those that reserved early on and ordered early on and are still waiting should be compansated as well. Ford is going to make gobs of money on these Broncos over the next few years they can afford to recover some good will.

Of course I don't fall into either of these groups as I just recently ordered and knew what the stakes were. I'm not lobbying on my behalf.

I actually think if people wouldn't have then it would have forced FMC had to figure it out quickly and not half-ass the MIC 2.0 that's having issues now.
Now add that the Raptor is being pushed to the front as well they are showing it's only about the quick money!!
Soft top - quick build (cheaper but more number) = quick money
Raptor - Front of the line (More expensive but smaller numbers) = quick money
