Out for a quick off road and dog walk. We ended up down a logging road we hadn't been to and got out for a walk. I believe these are Grey Wolf tracks. They could be a large dog but I don't think so because of the location and the track. I don't have any details about gate which would help. I have heard wolves howling and seen them, but never tracked them. What do you think about these tracks? Wolf?

Have you seen anything interesting lately? Funny? Crazy?

Lots of slash..

I have no idea what the tracks are. But, I would say wolf, unless you have coyotes out there.
We have seen wild horses before. Once on La Ventana trail here in NM. There is a water fall that is a short little hike. There were several there when we walked up. They ran, but it was up a cliff. They were very nimble.
Then we were in the San Rafeal Swell area of UT and there was a heard of wild horses. They were running and we were in a flat section where we could go fast. They were running along side of us for several minutes. One of the coolest things I've seen out on the trail! Sadly, no pics either time. Long before smart phones.

Agreed, especially if they weren't accompanied by any human tracks that might suggest they're just a really big dog. I gotta say the coyote track size can be deceiving, because back east where they don't have Wolves and Mountain Lions to compete with anymore they are getting HUGE. Makes the wee Southwest Coyotes look like Pomeranians.

I'm going to share this about the Coyotes in the Southwest, but, I don't want to hijack this thread. When they are doing a new housing division in my area, sometime they will put out coyote bait that kills them, so the construction workers don't have to worry about dealing with them (not saying I agree with this, but this is what I've been told). So, without the Coyotes, the jack rabbits are able to stay alive until full maturity. These things get to be huge! And they look like kangaroos when they are hopping away. Thanks for letting me share. Now back to the theme of this thread!

Yes there were no human tracks..good point. Coyotes here are called Brush Wolves (coyotes) and are smaller for sure.

That is awesome. I've had black bears, moose and of course deer all jump out in front of me on a trial while riding a dirt bike. That is one for the books. Nice Pic!

This wasn't on a trial, it's a built up area. A fire truck came by with sirens going and this coyote came out and started to howl for quite a long time. He didn't seem bothered with the dog and me at all. That was yesterday. Beautiful day here today. I had the top completely down and loved it. It is a very nice truck to be in with the roof down.IMG_1726jpeg.jpg
