A NON-SERIOUS THREAD that may help some owners know what to watch for in theirs.
No mean-spirited comments. There is no right number for everyone. Door count is not that serious, for real.
I recently dropped my 2-door Badlands off at work to trade for our 4-door Bronco Nation Wildtrak so I could head down to Super Celebration East in Tennessee. Most of the time, when I switch from one set of doors to another, I forget what's going on behind the driver's seat because the two feel so similar.
However, there were a couple differences, two I see called out on Facebook posts often:
1. The window switches 😠4-door owners, I feel your potential pain. The number of times I lowered the back windows when I was aiming for the front definitely clocked in the double-digits. I see people asking why Ford doesn't have the front window switches at the top and the rear windows underneath ... 2-door owners have it so easy with two switches. You always know which one you're gonna get without thinking about/feeling around for about it! Tip for those FB posters -- Horizontal the switches in your mind: They're laid out like the windows in the Bronco.
2. The sound system. My '21 Badlands has the High Pkg, and the '21 Wildtrak has Mid. Both vehicles have the factory hard top, sound-deadening liner, and the same number of speakers. The Wildtrak is modified, but the wind and tire noise is not any worse in it than mine based off the very nonscientific "I feel." I won't claim that the sound system is great in either, but I think I need to recant times I've said non-B&O factory sound is not so bad. It was pretty awful in the 4-door, which I attribute to the larger cabin? Not an expert, and like I said, this post is made in fun. Correct me if you think it's due to something else. But if I had something I would modify on our '21 Wildtrak, it would definitely be the sound system.
3. More entry points on the 4-door. Obvious, yes. But I've gotten so used to having to plot how I grab something from the back of my Bronco, I kept heading for the tailgate or passenger door to get stuff from the rear seats in our Wildtrak. I mumbled to myself at one point, oh, I forget there's more doors ..
Can be a really awesome feature to not have to contort and stretch to reach on the regular!
Those of you who have driven/owned both door counts, or are just really passionate about what you've got, what do you think is solved by your setup or a flaw of it? What surprises you when switching/you take for granted on yours? Examples include wheelbase, storage, and of course, cupholders. Owners of the other, can you help "critics" fix their complaints?
