I had a BLAST at the 2023 Greenwood Car Show in Seattle today. I enjoyed fielding questions from curious passersby, as well as all of the folks taking photos of my Bronco on display. A couple of times, fathers asked if their kids could sit behind the wheel, and I was happy to oblige. I think people are genuinely curious about the new Bronco, but don't always have the opportunity to speak with an owner or to see one up close without pressure from a salesperson. It was a pleasure being a conduit for potential Bronco buyers. I wasn't the only 6th-generation Bronco at the show; a new Black Diamond appeared down the road a bit, in addition to a few vintage Broncos.

Every year, the Knights of Columbus has a miles-long stretch of Greenwood Avenue cordoned off for this rain-or-shine event. Luckily, the weather was ideal! I took lots of photos. Here are a few...

Meanwhile, my cat "stood guard" over my doors at home, on my living room floor. 😊
Chris here. I drive a 2-door Velocity Blue 2023 Ford Bronco Badlands with Sasquatch, Lux, a 2.7L V6, and an automatic transmission. It’s fun.

What a well trained cat.

Nice photos looks like a fun time.
Lola was like "Why did you leave me at home with your car parts?" 😆

We are ticking closer to OE PNW Chris! We will get out on the trails!
My tires are hungry for some dirt. They're dirt eaters. So far, they've only had a diet of smooth black asphalt and occasionally concrete. I've teased them with some grassy terrain but they're hungry for more. I will be contacting you shortly about the OE PNW. Can. Not. Wait. I (and my Bronco) need to reconnect with the great outdoors. it's going to be fun. My only question now is whether I should go the cheap route or dive in head first to the "overland experience." Expectations management is ongoing and will be crucial in the weeks to come. ;)

That Area 51 Wildtrak totally photobombed that vintage Bronc. 😂 Both are awesome in their own right.

Okay, here are some completely superfluous and gratuitous photos from the show. BUT, I chose them for specific reasons. The 1958 Oldsmobile Super 88 is similar to the first car I ever restored. Mine was red and white, and wasn't black and lowered, but you get the idea. It was completely gaudy and very bloated, but It was a time capsule for the time in every way (right down to the in-dash removable transistor radio and Civil Defense triangles on the dial). The other was an early Mercury Cougar. The first car I ever drove was a 1970 Mercury Cougar with a V8 engine and some really trick options. I had to share. 😍

Love the Super 88
But the Cougar is awesome, the hide away headlight and that is where the sequential tail light blinkers come from. The only cooler car to me would be a Fox Body Mercury Capri, love those fenders.

Dude, seriously! And I LOVED the crazy hood they put on the Capri (Mustang equivalent) in those years. What's a Mustang? It really set the two apart but shared the same DNA.

There is literally something for everyone at the annual Greenwood Car Show. You never know what will show up. Some show up with cars for sale, and some with motorcycles that were built by long-gone manufacturers (like the guy parked next to me). I loved this spawn of Christine, a 1959 Plymouth Belvedere. One and a half cars, for sure.

My friends sister had one of those cougars and she would take us to football practice…. Felt like a king showing up in that car…. Those were the days. 🐎
2023 Wildtrak, sas, mid, soft top. Not crazy offroader…. Just a normal trail junkie

My memories of this car are bittersweet, to say the least. My sister owned the car and promised it to me, but then caved and sold it to someone else. It was literally "the one that got away." I already had plans for a complete rehaul and paint job. Oh well. So my first car turned out to be a 1968 Chevy Nova 4-door sedan. In primer. With bald tires. Best car I ever had (to date). LOL

Ok I’m gonna geek out for a second. Back in high school (1988-89) my brother, cousins and two friends had a small Mustang club. One cousin had a 1966 notch back maroon 289, a friend had a 1966 notch back white with 289, I had a 1975 notch back silver ghia 302, my Brother had a 1982 GT dark red automatic, another friend had a 1982 GT silver manual, another cousin had a 1983 GT white. And another cousin had a 1987 LX notch back. The cousin with the 66 also had a 1986 Capri RS (and a 86 EB Bronco) and his dad had a 1982 Capri RS, his mom had a 1986 Capri v6. My favorite Mustang year is the 1982 GT because it looks most like the Capri. my Brother’s automatic ‘82 GT is actually one of the rarest mustangs. Later my brother got a 1986 GT, then a 1982 Capri, then he had a 1988 LX 5.0 notch back. My cousin that had the 83 GT later acquired my uncles 1982 Capri after my uncle had sold it and someone owned it for 6 years. My cousin with the 87 has owned a Mustang since 87 I think he has only had 4 mustangs in 35 years.

That’s awesome. You’ve got Ford (and Mercury) lineage. It puts your current stable in context. Every time I see a Mustang or Capri from that era, I think of how I wish I’d got one. (And kept it.)
