Hello,
My 4-door soft top Bronco is 3.5 years old now and my rear window is nearly opaque. In contrast, the soft top side windows look like new still.

Has anyone else had the same problem with their rear soft top window? Is it a manufacturing issue (IE: the window tint coating?) Is there a replacement option for it from Ford? Or do I need to order a replacement myself, and if so, are there any after-market options?

Thanks,
Tony

Good morning. Will you send us a private message with your VIN? I’d like to look into things on my end.

When my side window split in Moab, @Ford Motor Company denied my warranty claim because it broke in "chilly weather" (although the temps were still above freezing). So I had to source a replacement on eBay. That's what I suggest. Go to eBay and find a take-off.

The terms and conditions of my extended service plan say:

7. WHAT IS NOT COVERED BY THIS AGREEMENT
a) Damage caused by the environment and pollution, including airborne fallout, corrosion, chemicals, debris, tree sap, salt, hail, windstorm, lightning, freezing, flooding, earthquake, snow or ice;

There was no snow or ice, and it was 45f degrees outside.

Anyway.... I see a bunch on eBay for around $300. That is much cheaper than trying to buy them new.

If its oxidation on the plastic and not cut or torn, I would probably try to clean and buff that, before I replaced the whole back panel.

Something like this I would think;

I have the McGuire's version of this somewhere (it was in their Marine line, but I couldnt find it when I just went to look), but there are a lot of products like these. If it is just oxidation, its relatively easy to resurface. Just take your time, and if you are using a polisher, keep your speed real low- the plastic cant take a lot of heat so you cant spin it fast.
