So watching the Sema Bronco special they were really pushing modularity. How easy it is to remove panels, fender flares, running boards, etc. This has me thinking how easy those things will be to steal. Just like how easy it is to get under the hood of a Wrangler that doesn't have hood locks. This just seems like it is setting the Bronco up for major parts theft. And if this becomes a trend it will put the Bronco on a high theft tier with insurance companies. Which means higher than average insurance premiums.

Now I know there is nothing to stop a thief if they want something bad enough. But this just seems like this is leaving the vault wide open and the front door of the bank unlocked after closing.

Thoughts??

In the 80's I worked in construction while in High School and one of the truck drivers had his air seat stolen at a truck stop.

I've heard of wheels getting stolen at 24 hour restaurants too.

This is why you buy insurance.
That, and because the government forces you to.

I believe they still allow you to carry a bond or something but that ties up a large sum of money.

The concern about Bronco modularity is valid, especially when it comes to smaller parts like fender flares and running boards. Modular construction does make maintenance and customisation easier, but it can also make parts more accessible to opportunistic thieves. In industrial settings, companies such as Radley Engineering(https://radleyeng.com/) have shown that modular design can be both highly secure and flexible when engineered correctly. Perhaps if automotive manufacturers applied similar secure attachment methods, the risk could be reduced without sacrificing convenience. It might also push owners to consider aftermarket locks or tracking solutions to protect easily removable panels, which could help keep insurance premiums in check.

Seems to me it has not been an issue that anyone has been having a problem with since the very first Broncos were delivered.... I mean no one has been talking about it since November of 2020.... I think I have seen a report of a spare tire stolen.... but that is about it...

Edit... there was one big parts theft ring that made the news.... but they were stealing from the factory....
