It’s an oldie, but a goodie.

Good reason for a Buckin' Bronco road trip:

PSUTE

I use that in my fiction.
My protagonist's girlfriend ("Harmony") is driving, but gets into a road-rage situation and crashes the car. The state trooper assumes my character ("Mike") was driving. They get into an argument, then a fight and he's arrested--on Friday night of St. Patrick's Day weekend, which coincides with a state holiday. He has no wallet or cash, and all his friends have left campus for the long weekend.
So he gets arraigned on Tuesday, but it's not till Thursday that they have a positive ID on him and he gets somebody to bail him out.
Meanwhile, his girlfriend passes through ER, but is spirited away to another hospital by her mother to keep them separated. You see, another boy tried to rape her and her dress was ripped, so the mother is quite convinced that it was Mike who's responsible for her daughter's misfortunes. (Incidentally, farm girl Harmony fought him off by literally impaling his foot with a stiletto heel.)
