I watched this guy “lock” his bike up before going into the store. He actually double checked to make sure the lock was locked!

CONTEXT IS EVERYTHING
The charging station in the photo was created by Jon Edwards, an Australian, in 2018. He combined an electric vehicle charger from a company called Tritium with a diesel generator. PolitiFact mentioned him in a similar fact check in 2021 after reading about his story in the Australian electric vehicle news site The Driven.
Edwards told The Driven in 2018 that his goal was to test whether such a station could be a temporary solution for electric vehicle drivers traveling long distances in remote locations, and how fuel consumption compared with diesel-fueled vehicles.
The test, as described in a post on the Tesla Owners Club of Western Australia website, showed that "a stand alone DC EV-charging skid powered by diesel generator for remote locations with inadequate power delivers fuel consumption results are very comparable but on most occasions better than equivalent diesel powered passenger vehicles."

I'da never thought a meme would cause such a deep response.. 😂

Either way, I still find it hilarious that an electric vehicle charger would be powered by fuel.. 👀

Pretty much all of them are if you look at the grid. The meme is just a direct contradiction...

Well some people don't get the joke. All chargers use some kind power source that pollutes.
EVs have run their course once again.

We are spoiled by a pretty amazing electric grid in America…. There are many places, like the Outback of Australia, where major highways run through places without a grid, and anything requiring electricity requires a generator of some kind… And as stated elsewhere here, MOST chargers are ultimately powered (at this time) by fossil fuels, hydro, or in a few cases, solar or nuclear.

And to paraphrase Mark Twain (or Samuel Clemons)
”The news of the death of EV’s (and ICE’s) is greatly exaggerated.”

From all indications we will be living in a world of both ICE’s and EV’s (and everything in between) for years and years to come…

Just an FYI regarding the charging station conversation. Many run by Solar with diesel backups. And in my travels driving back and forth to the Bay Area from AZ, the midway point on I-5 in California is at Harris Ranch in Coalinga. It has, I believe, the largest EV charging station in the U.S. It runs on diesel generators because it is just too much for the grid. Not much will change until the power grid and how we generate are upgraded. It just points out that we need gas, diesel, wind, solar, nuclear, coal, natural gas, geo thermal, hydro electric and anything else they can think of to keep us powered and moving. There are small nuclear power generating plants that are small, self contained, require no cooling and run off of nuclear waste that are safe. But the regulators won’t go for it. They are too efficient. Don’t even get me going down the rabbit hole of the genius of Nikola Tesla. So can’t we all get along? I think I will take the 2019 Bullitt out when I get home. Vroom, Vroom.
