Auto start Stop

Don't Follow Me ,I'm about to do something Stupid

Sep 08, 2021

I searched but didn't find anything posted previously . Is the Bronco Auto/Start /Stop feature the same as on the current Ranger ? The reason I ask is , I see people paying $100 for a plug in module to permanently disable this feature but on the Ranger all you have to do is unplug one wire at the battery . There is a small module on the negative terminal that sends battery voltage to the Auto/Start/Stop and if the voltage is low so as the vehicle may not crank again , it disables the feature . All you have to do is unplug the wire and that's that . Hopefully the Bronco is the same but I keep seeing people ordering the little disablers so wasn't sure .

Auto Start/Stop on vehicles is mandated by the EPA in the US. That is also why you can't permanently shut it off. Apparently automakers had to lobby to be able to place the button on the dash and now there's a push to have that removed on future vehicles as well.

I have a 2020 Equinox 2.0T that does not have a button to turn off the Autostop. the only way I can do that is put it in Manual mode then leave it in 9th gear. it puts it in to an automatic sport mode or tire spin mode, if you floor it going less than 30mph the tires just cut loose.

Pols are the reason we got dinky sized full tanks and are driving turbo 4 bangers and 6's when we should have 6.8's and Gojira's under the hood. Pols are why we can't have nice things anymore

What we have here is the first encounter with all that fancy tech interfering with a persons ability to have fun (not to mention a great way to help wear out the starter). Wait until lane assist tries to correct for that rock your trying to go over.

I hope I get a vin number before tech removes all the fun.

You can be sure the greenie weenies will notice the increase in off road use and try to clamp down on it from their end. I'm glad I have an old CJ in the garage.
Does anyone make a car freshener that smells like gas and 90 weight gear lube? I need one for my Bronco

I passed on a nice 77 because I didn't like the color back in the 80s. 302 in it too.

I've got a closet full of work close that smell like diesel and gear oil. I should cut them up in the shape of little trees. Look for them on EBAY!!!

I just installed my auto start stop eliminator this morning and I have to say the temp control console was nerve racking trying to get it off the clips.

I did end up breaking 2 clips throughout the entire install and they are just clips so are easy to replace.

Overall I'd say it was a fairly easy install in concept just the execution of pulling the panels the first time was making me worried I was going to break something hard to replace.

Sooooooo did anyone ever check to see if the Bronco has the plug on the negative battery terminal that you can just unplug? Wouldn't that be the easiest, cheapest solution???

Forscan takes care of everything
ForScan failed to write the change multiple times on me for the auto start/stop. Other things I changed worked the first time. Any Ideas?

I push two buttons when I get in my car

1) The Start button
2) The auto-start-stop button

Once you get in the habit, it'll never be a problem for you. What I hate is that the traction control turns it's self back on if you change drive modes

When Auto start/stop is deactivated with ForScan can it still be activated with the button?

I just checked, and that plug and module on the negative terminal IS there. I unplugged the wire on mine and yes, with the wire unplugged, the auto start/stop does not work. When you stop, you do get the little auto start/stop symbol on the dash, but it has a line thru it, I guess to indicate that it isn't working. I suspect that a DTIC is being generated with the wire unplugged, but it is not causing a CEL. For the time being I'll run with the wire unplugged. Sure will save $100 for that custom smart harness.
I also have FORSCAN, and would love to use that to make the change permanent with out the wiring disconnected, but don't know what HEX code needs to be changed to make that happen.
