Anyone Install Paint Film on Hood Instead of Stone Guard

I have been looking for a stone/bug guard for the hood of our Bronco. Don't want the one that tapes on. Found one from AVS that bolts on under the hood, but it is a very low profile and needs bump stops so it doesn't rub on the hood. You can't get your hand behind it to clean, or wax. So I saw the paint film. Found a local guy that will do it for $100 - $150. Need to take the truck up for an exact estimate.

He said;
1. It will last around 8-10 years if taken care of.
2. Car wash can cause the edges to peal.
3. When it cracks of gets a hole from stone, etc it should be replaced.
4. Does not harm the paint when removed.

Looking for pros and cons of folks that have used paint film before. Please and thank you.

Ford Build and price has PPF option from factory.

Wow! that surprises me... In the past that type of thing was always a dealer option.... I think it still is with most vehicles. I wonder what brand of film the are using. There are several good ones to chose from. There seem to be a lot of things with these Broncos that Ford is offering that never came from the factory before... Odd that they are not allowing parts to be ordered al a carte and still forcing "packages" while at the same time offering up all these new options. I am guessing it must have to do with how the manufacturing floor is laid out/planned out/organized.

Interesting... I can not find it on there anymore... At least with my build it does not seem to be an option... And to be honest I never saw that as an option for the last year or so... Maybe it was just my build? Maybe one of the factors that was slowing down production and has since been "temporarily suspended???"

I took that screenshot today off a Wildtrak build and price.

2021 order guide had PPF for all trims
2022 and 2023 order guides have PPF for wildtrak only

I have the plastic deflector but was thinking about cutting and attaching clear film to the hood and then attaching the deflector to that, not sure if that will help need to talk to a body shop guy about that! I have heard mixed things about the deflector and whether it really helps deflect stones to prevent windshield cracks

I learned something new today.... I looked hard at the wild track... Really wanted that Hoss 3... but at the same time I wanted the auto disconnect sway.... I am old... I don't want to get out in laydown on my back in the mud to disconnect manually.... Even figured out I could order the disconnect from Ford for 1700.00 and wire it to the aux switch. Now that means no computer control so you have to remember to reengage but that is pretty easy to do once you start raising the speed and hit your first corner. Turn off the 12 volt signal and boom there you go... For some reason I must have missed the PPF option. Well I tried to build mine and that was dumb... Mine does not really have many options to choose from.

I think it deflects all of them except the one that hits your window. ;) I am considering one... and I will be getting PPF. I think I may want to paint it body color though.
