Hi… I went to the dealership last week and signed all the paperwork for my Bronco (so excited!) only to get right on the highway and the check engine light came on and it wouldn’t accelerate. I immediately called the dealership and they told me to just get it home and they would come back the next day and get it to see what is wrong with it. Found out the turbo is broken and was told the part won’t be in for at least a month and a half!!!

A claim was opened with Ford Motor Company to try to expedite the part, but even after a week I haven’t received any more info on it. I know this part is out there somewhere and I feel like Ford should Fed Ex overnight one from Michigan or wherever they have them… but I have a bad feeling I’m going to be waiting a long time. Not to mention I’m going to have to make a loan payment and an insurance payment on a Bronco I don’t even have yet.

Just wondering if anything like this happened to anyone else or curious how you would handle this situation if it was you? I’m pretty upset about this but thankful it’s still crappy out where I live… if this happened right before the summer and I saw people driving around with Bronco’s with their tops off I’d be extra extra upset. Lol.

Thanks!

Picture of it looking pretty in my driveway for the five minutes I had it. :)

I broke a CV axle on my new Ranger a week after getting it (my fault) and it was over 7 weeks before a replacement axle could be shipped . It's just the way things are during these parts shortages and not only Ford .

Sorry to hear about this. I would be very upset if this was mine. However, parts are hard to get right now (my buddy was in a rental for over a month just for a new battery) so hopefully they can get that part expedited and you can be rolling again soon.
that is one Beautiful Bronco.

Talk to the dealer/service manager and call Ford Customer Care. Talk to them about having the payment and not having the car. I had an issue w one of my F150's and Ford paid 2 of my payments which was over a thousand dollars. And of course they gave me a loaner car too.

Thank you everyone! I’ve already had a case opened up with Ford to hopefully expedite the part and I love everyone at my dealership. They also said that they opened up a claim to have my payments hopefully made if it does take a really long time to get it. I haven’t heard anything else about that yet though…
I know parts are super hard to get right now too… it’s just such a bummer waiting so long to get it and then this happen. Every time I pass one on the road I want to cry a little. Lol!

On the part i am a machinist , getting parts is a real problem , they r just not in stock .
I would get ford and or the dealer ship to do something for you. Get on the phone to ford
with all your info and get something out of them , even threaten to cancel the order , not

It's a shame they can't pull a turbo off a lot queen Explorer or Ranger--and let one of those sit until your part comes in. Both use the 2.3, the turbo's should be interchangeable.

2.3 because it has a manual transmission.

Im confused about the transmissions , i have a 2.7 motor 6 cylinder and it is a manual transmission , but you can shift it manually also

I thought I had to get the 2.3 if I was getting a manual. I’ll be jealous of you if I was wrong! Darn. Lol

The 2.7 can only be configured with a 10 speed automatic transmission. Yes, the automatic transmission can be put into a manual mode (P, R, N, D, M), and shifted using the + or - rocker on the gear selector, but it's not a true manual transmission (3 pedals).

That’s rare, usually the v6 motors are having issues, I hope it all gets fixed soon! I have a 2.3 build waiting as well

The odds of that happening in a 2.3 MT bronco is rare. I have the same engine and transmission for 7 months now. Works perfect. I think you are the first to have this happen.

The fix may be as simple as one of your turbo pipes needs to be reconnected/tightened. It could have happened when your engine/turbo was under load while you were getting on the highway. Did you floor it lol?

I blew a turbo pipe off once on the highway in an older car and same thing happened, the engine lost power and had to pull over. Found the problem, reconnected pipe with screwdriver and was back on the road 5 min later.

You said you were able to drive it home though, so maybe the turbo is broken if the engine was still able to move it slowly back home. How was it running on the ride back home?

Check with the "Lemon Law" rules in your state. Then use that against Ford.
