@Laura
After buying two Broncos my old 77 year Ford Dealer, they changed hands. But he now advertise as Ford "FINISH LINE". Its look like one of those used car lots in NYC!
So why did they sell? Here is a video that gives us some clues:
In October ,2021, I got a call from my old salesman that my Spring 2021 Base Bronco order, in Rapid Red metal flake, that it was not going to be made in 2021. However, the dealers sons got two 2021 first editions. One was in show room and the salesman said I could have it that day for a $30,000 administration fee or $92,000. WOW. That's three time my MY2021 base.
I declined, and we when back to B&P and changed the MY2021 to MY 2022 with some hot pepper crappy red. Not much metal flake. The order went from 99 to 10 and in 2022 things happen like clockwork from FORD. Emails, window stickers, more emails and finally the final assembly picture.
My almost two year wait, I thought was over. Delivery Good Friday 4/15/22 . Looked nice, except that hot pepper crappy tiny metal flake paint. On Monday 4/19/22 , in service had some issues. Rusted exterior bolts!
No storage bags for doors but had front roof bags, in cargo, with mats, antenna and license plate bracket in back of Friday, but on Monday no door bags and tech decided to keep license plate bracket ! Bags?
The harness and on board door bags, that dealer GM said were now only factory options. Then the story changed , no more harness being sold and on board bags; became garage storage bags. Take doors off in driveway, put in bags, put bags,in your garage, but yellow sticker on inside door channel say" Dont drive with doors off on highways". Ford's attorneys got to MAP! Now put doors on when going off driveway!
Next issue was trailer lighting and tow package , not available on base , so Ford Accessories said buy $125 generic Bronco trailer lighting module(6amps) and dealer must install originally for $220 labor now $264.
However, dealers are independently owned "crap" and seven said no!
On 9/12/22 , I had an issue with the $195 auxiliary switches wires. Non currant point E .This Monday brought in Bronco for oil change, break in oil ,according to new service mgr., but asked that the 30 A fuse in fuse box #60 be swapped out, switch one from 30 A to same as switch #2 15A (#61) because same thin 16 ga. wires were on the two current 30-15A circuits, that could be connected to the 5 non current thin 16 ga wires. Did not want grandson getting burnt!
The service writer refused to have tech continue his 9/12/22 "No action taken" report and stated Ford Field Engineer stated " DONT TOUCH WIRING OR FUSES FROM FACTORY" He would not write in RO anything, just oil change requested. I confirm with new service mgr who concurred and instructed me to have break in oil changed at 1500 miles.
The service writer complied with my request for a jar of old break in oil ( real dirty) and original oil filter. Having has several diesel pushers motor homes, and my brother over the road hauler, oil analysis is a normal maintenance item, like blood test, you get, when you get old.
So why am, I so concerned about my base Bronco?
Well my grandson was given at 18 our old 2004 Explorer Eddie Bauer with 55 k miles and my daughter put in new brakes for him. Now with a second brake job and suspension work, since it was used to launch boats nearby, it need work ( now $5,000 repairs, brakes, tires , front control arm, rear springs over shocks and recently, second wheel bearing, hub, and knuckle) Current miles 93k.
The 100,000 V8 tune up due and all local techs are refusing ,due to spark plugs breaking when being removed and parts entering cylinder head. Bummer. The Explorer is facing death, after 20 years of service say $1750 a year depreciation. Not bad, but the 4.6 V8 is strong as ever, just the body is rusting away. Ford like. Sounds like me at 79 years old.
I am so upset with Ford Motor Company, I called my Range Rover Sport Florida dealer and asked last spring to be place on his DEFENDER allocation wait list. On Christmas Eve. 2022 got email MY23.5 build order, no money down. WOW!
Next , while servicing my RANGE ROVER SPORT a local tech said he did a tow hitch and wiring plug and play, but his body shop charges $4000.00 to remove bumper, etc and kit was $1200 from JLR dealer. $5,600 . So emailed DEFENDER dealer to add $1850 trailer package with air suspension, terrain 2, customised (GOAT), back up dial wheel controls, etc. Total $58k, same price as say a Wildcat. 18 " on AS.
Keep in mind where Ford got TERRAIN MANAGEMENT systems from.
Finally, if you read this far:
Selling Base Bronco to grandson, now 24 and asked him to pay $100 a week from his job. Deal, net price say $11000, since I will continue loan payments. He wanted one of our Jags, but XF with Ford coyote V8 was same as my RRS and dealer gave good trade on Jag , on base, when prices were high ( down 18% now)!
Only remaining item was to get Bronco under-coated for $600, if going on beaches. Those frame square tubes are only painted no zinc dip, 33" tires he wants say $800 discounted , since works for Walmart.
Will the Bronco hold up for 20 years like the Eddie Baurer V8 or will it rust and the 2.3L start getting burnt oil on piston , air intake manifold, and values?. And will the new "FINISH LINE" Ford dealer , when Hyandia never finished a Rolex 24 race like that GT EGO BOOST won several times, stay viable, that is the question?
Across the highway is a large Jeep dealer. Jeeps all over the lots, not crappy used cars, few Explorers one high priced Bronco, and mostly F150's. Jeeps sell well here! Niece drives Wrangler.ok but not a DEFENDER.
Why are Ford dealers sell out?
