BroncoNation,

I have a story. I have dreamed of driving a ford bronco my entire life. When I was a teenager I wanted the OJ bronco. As a young adult I wanted the 1970 Bronco in the tv series Lost. Prior to covid, I looked into purchasing and fixing up an old bronco but financially didn't seem like a good move. Then the new Bronco was introduced. I was a day 1 reservation holder. I didn't reserve till later that evening, thinking it wouldn't be so popular, but l was actually frustrated on day 1 because I couldn't get a first edition. I have never owned a ford, so I used the closest ford dealer to my work. Ford Crain of Little Rock. They said MSRP plus 2K in accessories. I filled out the necessary paperwork when it was time to place an order and did what everyone else has done... waited. I received all the trinkets in the mail, the occasional email updates. Last summer, I was about over Bronco and I ordered a Dodge truck but backed out at the last minuted because I called the Ford dealership and they said that my order had been misplaced? I went in this fall, placed the 2023 order, and they assured me since I was an early reservation holder, I should go to the top of the line. Sure enough, I got the email, everyone gets and things started happening. My 2023 wildtrak 4 door lux, hard top, tow package was being built. It was in the factory when ford made the announcement about reservation holder having to change orders. I felt lucky. It shipped and I waited. During this time, I spent more time on this website then I care to admit, trying to pick out the different accessories and builds that I would try to mimic. It arrived Monday and Tuesday was when I was to pick up. I test drove it.. great. Car estimate.. fine. Then the sales manager comes over, the sales consultant 20 yards away nervously fidgeting and watching, and tells me he is going to give me a great deal..... of 8K over MSRP plus a 2+K extended warranty plus some other 500 dollar fee. In total over 12000 over what we agreed to nearly 3 years ago. I reminded him of our agreement. He simply said he did not make that agreement. I pointed to the sales consultant a few yards away, and he said again, that "he" did not make that agreement. I stammered off a few curse words and tried to point out the bait and switch, racketeering nature of what they were doing. I then asked to speak to his boss. We have a meeting next week. The people I know in the car business have told me the only thing I can do Is post negative reviews and call ford corporate. I am at a point now where I don't even want the car, the taste in my mouth is too bad. However, if I don't buy it, they will benefit from it even more with their increased mark up. The only reason I post this Is I have enjoyed everyone else's posts on here over the past several months, and hope this might help someone, and of course, if anyone has any advice I would appreciate it.

Look at Tesla’s for example: their customers love the consistent pricing and lack of haggling. Ford knows the writing is on the wall.

Model for selling may be the way to go... but Tesla still sucks! 😂

I said this in 2021, Ford and dealers will not be hurt by butt-hurt consumers. If you buy a vehicle that pains you, you pay the dealer to pain you. If a dealer asks for more than a vehicle is worth and you pay it, they don't lose anything at all, but a promise you may have bought something in the future. If their profit margin is a few percentage points and they can sell a vehicle for ten-percent over MSRP they won't lose anything, not unless you were going to buy four or five future vehicles from them. A bird in the hand at 10% over MSRP is worth a half-dozen in the bush at 2% profit each.

Bottom line, what I'm saying is, buy a vehicle and make a dealer happy. It doesn't matter how pissed you are when you sign the check.

When you placed the order for the MY 2023 there should have been a Purchase Order generated with all the details of cost, including any junk fees, and your deposit (if collected) leaving the exact out the door price.

You also should have received a copy of the order sheet when it was placed with all the line item options, packages, etc. It also has the MSRP cost rolled up.

Did you not receive any of this documentation? Any lawyer you retain is going to want to see these docs otherwise you have nothing but a "he said" verbal contract which unfortunately does not hold any legal ramifications.

The Dealer is a Douche Bag for going down this road and hopefully Mothership Ford will start stomping on the Dicks of these, well...Dicks!

Also worth noting: This is why people shouldn’t pay ADM. You are enabling the dealers to screw customers out of vehicles they’ve been waiting for for years, knowing they can sell it to someone else for more.

yep, I laughed at several dealers (Chevy and Toyota) last year when looking for a RAV4 for my daughter and a new full size p/u for myself. Told them I would just wait it out until they are giving discounts off MSRP and begging for offers. The Toyota guy did at least say they will entertain below MSRP on Tacomas that were piling up. Eventually found a slightly used RAV4 and a brand new 1500 for 10% off MSRP and NO DEALER FEES.

PS, the Chevy dealer even picked me up at the airport 90 mins away. In this connected world, we have advantage, use it.

Can't believe this crap is still going on.

So I'd go to the dealership at lunchtime. If the floor has space for a car, I'd slowly park right at the double doors, calmly walk over to the double doors and open both, then drive my trade in into the showroom and park it extremely close to whatever is in there. If they touch you trying to stop you it is assault. Sit there and tell them to bring the paperwork at the MSRP price, you'll sign it and take your keys to your new Bronco.
Sounds like a great way to get arrested and definitely guarantee you’ll never get the Bronco.

We, the customers are the blame for this farce! If we go to the hardware store and the cashier says there’s a 20 percent surcharge on that item, we’re going to walk out unless there are really extenuating circumstances (no electricity without this part, kind of stuff). Owning a Bronco or any particular kind of car is just a want, not a necessity. Ford has placed a reasonable price and that’s what we should expect and be willing to pay. Our foolish behavior of wanting it now at any cost is what’s allowing the dealers to act like this. Just say NO to ANY ADM.
I can wait this out along with everyone else, if we will just be patient. Inventory is increasing every day.
OP, I didn’t see where you mentioned private offer from Ford on price protection. You should have this but the dealer will not mention it.

Yep...Walk away. Everyone should walk away. Leave them on the lot, the price will come down. BUT, as Forest once said, STUPID is as STUPID does.

That's bullshit! I was told by my dealership, that if it is a customer order, there is no market adjustment, the vehicle is supposed to be MSRP! Ford financing was telling them that some 7.something financing was available. They said, no, we want to get him the 3.9 rate from when he ordered it. So, I got it. As far as I know, my dealer sticks with MSRP.

I reached out to Ford on @jtmoore ’s behalf, and heard back from a regional manager in their responsibility team, covering Arkansas. They’d like to speak to him about his experience and see if they can help. I forwarded @jtmoore all of the contact info. Have not heard back from him, so am not sure if he is still on the forum or decided to just post and bail. But Ford is interested in helping if he wants it. Even sent me his mobile number to pass along.

What really boggles my mind is why the Ford social media account on here can’t or won’t do the same thing. What use is it if they just post comments on car colors.

FWIW, he checks out. He had posted a month ago about how excited he was his build went into production. Hope he is still responding to messages on here.

Good Morning.
I just checked all of these responses and I appreciate all the support and recommendations. I just sent an email to the Ford Contact that Sulley recommended. We should be talking today. Here are my thoughts after a few days.. I still want the Bronco. I asked my 10yr old daughter on the way home from soccer practice and she really wants it. It would be a fun addition to our family. I have thought of EVERYTHING to do/say to the dealership, assuming some higher power doesn't step in (and If it does I owe Sulley a beer or three), but I have decided I just don't have the energy to do anything. I would love to make a spectacle and make them an example. My plan right now though is to simply go in and tell them I want to stick to the original agreement. MSRP + 2K accessories. I will not pay over MSRP. I am not completely opposed to paying over cost for an in demand vehicle. BUT not for one that we agreed to get at MSRP. To answer a few questions from above. I did get something signed but I can not find it and I don't think the guy I talked to Monday would honor it. They did recognize the market adjustment after I bitched about the cost. With regards to the comment about your first sign should have been MSRP plus 2K accessories I only have this to say... When I walked in to that dealership I had an uneasy feeling.. but I wanted the car and it was close to my work. I should have sized up the people working there. I have bought one car in my life. And it was from a friend who I trusted. Every other car has been passed down to me from my wife so I just don't have much experience buying cars. Thanks to everyone and I will continue to update.

Try not to stress too much over it. See what the Ford Rep and boss man have to say. Ask for a copy of your original order, if they refuse to honor original deal or produce the order, kindly let them know they will be hearing from your attorney and the discovery process will not be much fun for them. A simple $300 (attorney fee to type it up) demand letter from an attorney will have them singing a different tune real fast. They really don’t want to spend $5000 in attorney fees, producing docs, emails, etc. It’s YOUR BRONCO, go get it.

The problem with MSRP + 2k in accessories is you are paying up to an extra $2k or more, leaving price protection or a private offer on the table. The current MSRP is quite a bit higher than the MSRP when you ordered it.
It would be best if you went for the original MSRP plus accessories you will choose; they don't get to choose them.

Discovery doesn't happen with a $300 letter. No dealer is going to start shaking in his boots over a letter of representation or demand letter. Well, maybe they'll be shaking in their boots, from laughing so hard.

Sorry, didn’t realize I had to spell out the process step-by-step Mr. Dense. The letter from the attorney simply asks for performance on the agreed contract/buyers order/whatever you want to call it and shows the dealership that you are serious (not going away quietly) as you have taken the step to engage counsel. The dealership wants to sell vehicles not spend money and time on discover (a step involved if suit is filed) and attorneys.

Had a similar situation years ago with a client, referred him to my attorney, one letter later, he is driving off with his new 4Runner very happy. The only people that like the prospects of going to court are the attorneys.

He can put up all the stink he wants it’s just facts that’s why whenever you order a vehicle you should make sure there is a written agreement. Been in the business for 40 years as a General Sales manager. It’s a shame it has to be that way but when doing business you have to protect yourself. I’m not an advocate of Dealers selling over MSRP. But the supply and demand creates that. But if a vehicle is ordered and an Agreement is made it should be honored plain and simple.

Ford motor company isn’t going to get involved they can’t force a dealer to sell vehicles for certain prices against their dealer agreements. Ford has no ownerships in privately owned franchises. Ford gets the same return no matter what dealers sell for. Dealership have run with little or no profit in the new car department for a long time now. I’m sure it will soon get back to that. But until then right or wrong this will be normal business practice. Hopefully when we come out of the other side of these inventory issues there will be a happy medium. Where dealers don’t have to give everything away but because of that don’t have to gouge customers either
