A funny thing happened to by Bronco Nation grill badge while I was away

After a trip (not with the Bronco), I returned home, and like everyone else here (or it may just be me), I paused to admire my Bronco in the driveway. While looking at the front grill, I noticed my Bronco Nation grill badge reflecting unusually brightly. After closer inspection, I realized all the black color was gone and what remains is a shining, polished grill badge! :-)

Has this happened to anyone else?

At first, I was thinking of ways to get the black back on, but this polished look is starting to look good. :-)

I’ve got a white one and a black one. Has anyone seen this happen to the white ones?

Kinda glad I haven’t found the time to install either of them yet! 🥸
Chris here. I drive a 2-door Velocity Blue 2023 Ford Bronco Badlands with Sasquatch, Lux, a 2.7L V6, and an automatic transmission. It’s fun.

I've had the white one on since August (not garaged). I have powerwashed over it about five times and haven't had this happen yet, but I've been paying attention.

Looking at my formerly black one it seems while there is a good amount of enamel the entire surface was polished before it was applied so there was nothing for the enamel to hold onto when it expanded and contracted with temperature changes so it just cracked and fell off. May just scuff it lightly then hit it with some spray paint and sand the raised sections so the silver shines through. Wonder what it would cost to get it sprayed in Eruption Green…..

This touchup paint in a spray can is like 70 bucks. Might be worth giving it a go.

Ugh they don't even have my color. I even tried looking up the Ranger but they don't have that model listed.

This is the place that I've been getting my paint. It looks like your paint code is VA which on some Ford vehicles was called Terrain.

I have the black one sitting on my desk, and this thread is making me nervous about putting it on my Bronco. Since I live in CA, and I garage the Blue Bronco, do you think I'm going to have this problem?

Out of all of them, four have "gone bad" from weather. I think you'll be ok, and if something happens to it, we'll take care of you. You're probably more concerned with the annoyance of getting it on only to have to take it off, which I totally get. I was able to get mine on my Badlands grille without having to pop the trim, etc., but it does require some finessing (the goal there was not to "waste" a use of those plastic rivets on the vehicle that always seem to turn out to have only a few use in them)

As a previous California resident, I can assure you it’ll only be a problem if you ignore the Prop 65 warnings and decide to eat the enamel.

Yeah, exactly! Any pointers on how to "finesse" it?

Have a lot of patience and work slow 😬 I have long fingers but they aren't that dainty so I think it's possible for men too.

Mine just did the same thing last weekend, apparently I somehow managed to scare most of the enamel off. Looks cool in silver but it’s so damn shiny I’m worried it will blind other drivers may have to remove it this weekend 😥 2F92D405-0DC6-4AAE-A196-517A6EB3D30C.jpeg
have to admit, it does look super cool. I’m am also concerned about the reflection of on coming headlights and driver’s eyes. Time to swap mine out with the replacement.
