The problem for me is there are only 2 gas stations in the entire city where I am currently living that have 93 octane. Both are clear on the other side of the city.
I used this tool, maybe there is something better to find stations with 93?
https://find93.com/
There are a lot of stations here that have 91. Looking into the Tune a bit more, a lot are saying you really need to run 93 to get the benefits from it. They say 91 is okay to use, but 93 is preferred.. I've read where some are even saying running anything under 91 could cause engine damage and cause the anti-knock sensors to kick in.
I'll def look into it some more but I really do not want to put another $25 worth of octane boost in with every tank when 91 is not readily available.. A lot of the places I go to camp and 4 wheel are out in the sticks with small gas stations that will not have the higher octane.
Heading to the closest National Forest to me, I do not recall ever seeing anything over 87 for the last 120 miles of the trip to it.. That's 120 miles each direction (getting there and leaving) plus whatever 4 wheeling fuel I'd use. I'd need more than a few cans of octane booster to be safe, even more if I wanted to hit 93 octane.
A 32oz bottle of Torco is $26 so if all I can find out in the sticks is 87, I'd need the entire can for each full tank just to get up to 91. From what I've read thus far, 91 is okay but 93 is preferred. To reach 93 octane, I'd need 2ea 32oz cans which = an extra $50 per tank..
Anyone here running the Tune with 91 and 91 only?
