2023 Bronco wildtrak hardtop wind noises

Just received my Bronco Wildtrak yesterday. Race RED , fully loaded sound deadening hardtop. I have never been a jeep person, but I am very slowly warming upto this Wildtrak. My daily driver is usually a F 150 37 package raptor, and that is like being in a well insulated bank vault. The only thing that I do not like about the bronco is when I hit 60 MPH and beyond there is a distinct whistling noise coming from the passengers side front and rear area I believe where the window slides up into the rubber roof seal when you close the door. It does not seem to do it on the drivers side. I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this in there 4 door hardtop bronco ? And if so, is there any fix to this. This is the only thing that could push me away from keeping it. Other than that I love it, but unfortunately I spend enough time on the highway that it could keep me from keeping it.

The other question I have is are there any tunes that can be done to achieve more horsepower and torque that will not void the Ford Warranty. I started looking at STEEDA, but I was wondering if there was any others. And I am going to assume that even the bronco raptor will have the hardtop wind noises ?

Any Help would be appreciated.

Thank You.
Big Papa, Deano Bronc

The Bronco is orders of magnitude louder than a Wrangler of the same year.Next year’s Wrangler has even more soundproofing and acoustic front glass.

Interesting. I would have thought jeeps where louder. I guess I really missed the mark when doing my research. Feel sorry for people who are spending $ 95,000.00 for a bronco raptor.

Well, I owned a 1995 Jeep YJ Wrangler for 14 years from new. A YJ is a very raw vehicle. Loud, zero sound insulation, metal dashboard, and thin fabric top. If one blasted the heater it kept you warm and with the windows properly zipped up, dry as well. But when wheeling it with the top and doors off, marvelous.

My Black Diamond Bronco is a virtual Cadillac in comparison to the YJ. The Bronco actually has electric windows and air-conditioning. But again, the Bronco is meant to run with the top and doors off too. Sorry, but that means a compromise, which is noise and water. Open the door in a Bronco in the rain, yup your pants get wet because there is no rain gutter. And maybe a drop of water sneaks through a seal every once in a while. If you expect that not to happen then you are in the wrong vehicle. The Bronco is meant for people who enjoy the outdoors, who go camping, hiking, etc. They don't mind wind noise and wetness. If you don't like wind noise and an occasional drop of water in the cabin, a Jeep or a Bronco is the wrong choice. The price is not reflective of the ability for containment from the elements, its actually the opposite. The price is because the roof and doors are engineered to be relatively easy to remove so the owner can experience and enjoy the elements. Thats all I'm trying to say.

If you want quiet and dryness in a ORV, that's what fixed-roof Range Rovers are for.

I'm glad me and you had this interaction because I think I've come to realize that spending $ 68,000.00 on a bronco that has leaking roofs and highway wind noises is supposed to be acceptable and par for the course is not for me. And by the way , I do alot of deer hunting, but after being out all day in rain or snow, I really have no interest in getting back into a vehicle that leaks or whistles the whole way home.

From a quality build standpoint there is no comparison between a F 150 raptor and a bronco. Not even close.

I test drove a 23 power soft top and it was 3db quieter (as a soft top!) than my Bronco hard top, at highway speeds. Did not measure the Jeep hard top but it was hella quiet.

Who would’ve thought a soft top would be quiter than a hard top. WOW !

I guess I completely missed the boat when doing my research on that one !

The Raptor will hold its value much more than any Jeep.

Tell that to 392 owners.

Also how do you know that? Raptor has maybe a year on the market. It may be considered junk in a few years, you’ve really no idea.

Your initial post didn't mention it, does your top have a water leak? Your noise issue seems to be a door window alignment issue rather than a top issue.

My $38,370 Black Diamond 2-door has near perfect build quality. I find the Bronco acceptable because I see it as it was designed for rather than what it was not designed for.

You state you hate Jeeps. The Bronco was resurrected by Ford to directly compete with Jeep Wrangler, so what were you expecting to be different about the Bronco that wouldn’t make you hate it? It's a Ford version of a Jeep. The very nature of the vehicle design is loud and not sealed from the elements; the first clue is the rubberized switches, rubber washout floors, and marine-grade vinyl seats (depending on trim choice). 2nd clue is... the top and doors are designed to be removed.
No salt tram towers were harmed in the making of this post...

Agreed. You are correct. That’s why I am going to call my local ford dealer and let him buy it from me even though I bought it out of state. I know he’ll want it.

I think a LX 600 will work better for me as a second family daily driver. Fully insulated, very off road capable, and better build quality.

As far as water leaks, it has not rained since I’ve had it, but I am going to run it thru the touchless car wash today and that should answer my question.

Take a look at brand Raptor from it's beginning to now. Show me a more coveted truck brand/trim.

You can easily have the conversation with 392 owners. Jeep throws money at the 1/4 mile. Ford puts the money underneath. In the end putting the engineering where Ford has pays off with more capability in the product.

Ford built the Bronco Raptor on the branding and engineering of truck. Could it be junk, sure, time will tell.

I test drove a Gladiator a week before the Bronco reveal and one Rubicon over the 3 year wait and that certainly is not my experience. MY KR F-150 and my latest Ranger Lariet were pretty darn quite but my new 2dr Badlands is not bad at all in comparison. Me thinks you have a particular issue with your Bronco top but the fact still remains that you bought the wrong vehicle for your needs.
Orders of magnitude louder than a Jeep ? Nah,not buying it,lol.

Also keep in mind the price point for the Bronco is not due to its creature comforts it is due to the off-road technology. A Wildtrak has the Sasquatch package that includes front and rear lockers, better gearing, 35” tire bead lock capable wheels one heck of a transfer case and some rather impressive suspension. All of that is what makes the Bronco as expensive as it is. I knew coming into this that my $53k Everglades was not going to drive like a Cadillac. But other than some wind noise that I just haven’t had the time to mess with this thing drives very well. Seriously I think a Range Rover might be more of what you are looking for. That would be a capable off roader that would be quite on the highway you just can’t take off the top. Hope you get this figured out and decide to keep it. Take the Bronco off road and that is where it shines. To be able to tackle some impressive trails and drive it home that day in relative comfort. It’s pretty cool.

For what I spent in my high end badlands, I wasn’t expecting so much wind noise or a cardboard interior.

You still haven't shown me the more coveted brand?

As for "propaganda", my guy, I just tell you what both sets of engineers admit to.

More facts not in evidence. You should work for Ford marketing. I’m done wasting my time on this.
