Ford is hosting a new exhibit beginning tomorrow in our nation’s capital. From July 1-14, 2026, you’re invited to check out Driving America Forward: A Ford Experience at Union Station. Admission is free.

“The exhibit is built on a simple idea: that a country and a company can share a history, and that history is worth celebrating, not simply with nostalgia, but with the kind of clear-eyed pride that looks forward as well as back,” writes Ted Ryan, chief historian, Ford.

Browse the American story across seven chapters, from the Birth of an American Dream to Building a Better World.

“Bring the kids,” writes Ryan. “Bring your father. Bring whoever taught you to drive.”

And tell us, what is your tie to the Ford x USA story? Who in your family worked on the line? Went overseas in a Ford-built jeep or bomber? Drove a Ford tractor or only vehicles by the auto maker? How has the motor company shaped your life?

My Bronco is my first Ford, so my history with the motor company started in 2021. If I was closer to D.C., I'd love to check this exhibit out. If you go, please post pictures!

“My” first vehicle was an F100 pickup, puke green as I called it. Single cab with an 8-ft bed. It was a hand-me-down from my dad when I turned 16 and got my license. It had the ugly “dog bowl” hub caps, stock muffler and exhaust, 302 with 2-barrel, and not much else. AM/FM radio with 5 push buttons for pre-selected channels. The windows were manual and the “AC” were the small triangle windows you could turn outward to get airflow through the cab (several of you will remember what I’m talking about). I did add a sliding back glass to boost the AC 🥵! I also put dual exhaust straight to the rear bumper and two 12” glass pack cherry bomb mufflers. Damn it sound sweet (and loud! 😂). Next came the keystone classics with Cooper G60’s all around. Finally I bought a new intake manifold and converted it to a four barrel carb! Sweet!! It still was ugly puke green but it would run and sounded like it would run even faster! What great times those were!!

Since I’ve had 9 other fords including a mercury cougar, a Bronco ll (first vehicle I bought new with my own money), 2 F150’s, 2 explorers, 2 escapes, and of course a G6 Bronco now.

Note: The truck pictured is not mine (online pic) but is nearly identical and shows the color I refer to as puke green! 🤣

Yeah I had fun with cars, I didn't mention the big block Mustang I owned for 24 hours. car was a little rough had a blown up 428 so bought it cheap. Got a trailer to get it home the next day. Went to load it and the guys father is threatening to have me arrested if I took it.They gave my money back.
Didn't count the 31 Model A coupe I have in the garage. My brother scored on some Model A parts for his truck restoration. Included a coupe rolling chassis and a Victoria body. The guy he got the stuff from wanted him to promise he wouldn't turn the coupe into a hotrod. Part of the reason he was selling it was because his son wanted to make it into a hotrod. The body is sitting on a frame that is correct for my brothers pickup. His pick up is on a Victoria chassis. So I cut a deal with my brother for the coupe body.He asked what I was going to do with it. I said hotrod, I didn't promise not to make a hotrod out of it.😂
When I retire in 3 years I'm going to start building it. I;ve been collecting parts for years for it. Going to be mids 60s era, I have a hipo 289 with 3000 miles on it,9 inch rear end, probably a T10 4 speed, 32 grill shell 32 style frame, Bell dropped front axle, bicycle front fenders bobbed rear, 2" chop, diamond tuck and roll interior, Halibrand wheels or Torque Thrust. Being a toolmaker by trade I'm going to hide a Unilite ignition inside a Mallory dual point distributor.Full Cobra engine dress up.

The best AC, until you hit traffic ... And maybe had the heat on too because it was running hot

That sounds like a sweet truck, and the color isn't bad at all! You've had some great Ford experience

My first car I bought when I was 14 from a friend it was a 1975 Mustang Silver Ghia with the maroon interior that by the time I got it had faded to a purple. The only car I owned before Darryl that had a name. We all called it Pimpmo. My brother, cousins and two friends had a bit of a Mustang club in our group we had two 66 Mustangs notchbacks, my 1975 Mustang, two 1982 GTs (one was a vey rare automatic) one 1983 GT, and a 1987 LX notch back a 1982 Mercury Carpi RS, and two 1986 Mercury Capri RS. We would hang out at the Dairy Queen at the end of our street. The owner liked us to hang out there because people would always stop to check out the car show. My next Ford was a 1984 Bronco XLT, then I ordered a 2000 F250 CCSB V10 4x4, then a 2001 escape Xl v6 4x4, then a 2004 F250 CCSB FX4 that had the 6.0l power stroke, still have that one, and my 2022 Bronco Everglades.
BN 1100, Desert Sand Everglades. Reservation 7/30/20. ordered 1/22/21, reordered 10/15/21 dropped tow and hard top, reordered 3/9/22 changed to Everglades. production date 9/7/22 rescheduled 9/14/22 completed 9/26/22, shipped 10/7/22, arrived 10/31/22, delivered 11/03/22

When I was a kid, my parents owned a Farm Equipment Dealership. We had 2 Fords as business trucks. One as a 60s C700 Cabover, we used to haul machinery. I learned to drive stick in that beast. The other was a brown 74ish F100 4x4, we used as a service truck to run errands and what not. I loved that pickup. Wish I could find another like it.
2024 Ford Bronco Raptor - Shelter Green - Order Confirmed 9/21/2023, Scheduled 1/29/2024, In Production 2/2/2024, Built 2/23/204, Shipped 2/25/2024, Delivered 3/12/204.
