Hey ABD, I have been done the Halsey trails and they're nice but very easy. If there's been rain, there are some chances to get dirty. Pretty scenery. I've also been to the Chadron State Park trail. It's more scenic IMO. Unfortunately, I don't know of any spots around the GI area. I'm in the Omaha area, so I only get to GI for the races at Fonner. Enjoy!
I want to go back!

Appreciate it, been meaning to check out Halsey. Do you think it might be a good time after a snowstorm? Another question have you been to Blair off road park? I can't really figure out if it is still closed or what is going on there.

Heh - just saw this message. "Blair off road park" is not technically a public venue and you need permission from the land owner to ride on it. Both the River Crawlers and OBC have good relationships with the owner and are still allowed use.
It's small area and worth a couple of hours of time. There are lots of hills and whoops, lots of mud, and just a couple slightly technical climbs. If the fields are open, you can Baja to your hearts content. Definitely smiles per mile.
The next closest real rock crawling in Tuttle Kansas, followed by Kansas Rocks.
I want to go back!

Awesome I appreciate you speaking up. I am part of the OBC now and just got an invite to do a lunch meet up and trip to the blair offroad park. I will check out the river crawlers too thanks again.

Hey there,
Sorry I didn't respond sooner. I'm involved in two very active Nebraska Groups on Facebook:
- River Crawlers of Nebraska - All off-road vehicles welcome. Jeep heavy, but super active and the nicest people you'll ever meet. They do lots of camping and off roading on the river (as their name implies).
- Omaha Bronco Club "OBC" - Not quite as active as River Crawlers, but they get out and about several times a year.
Both of these groups travel all over the area on trails. One member of both of those groups leads trail rides in Central Nebraska. He has a pretty scenic low maintenance road map that he uses. We also set up group trips to Tuttle Kansas, Kansas Rocks, and Southern Missouri Off Road Ranch (SMORR).
The next OBC event is January 7th in Blair. There is a private farm with a really fun track that allows off road vehicles to make use of the hills (an Baja the hell out of the freshly cut corn field).

This is my closest thing to a social media account but is there any other way to get info of when meetups will take place? I'm just outside Omaha and would like to take part in the meetups when I can.
