I have had several EB's, or Gen1's in my day, I just love the way they look. Being in Knoxville and seeing all the super celebration rides show up has my juices flowing! Anyway, my wife and I have quadruplets who are all going off to college this fall. I want to get a Gen6 this summer so the wife and I can do some overlanding once we are empty nesters. (so weird to think about!) This is my question. Are there any 2 door guys who regret not getting a bigger ride? I am mainly concerned with storage behind the rear seats. I really want a 2 door, but I do fear the lack of storage. I intend to get a roof rack and put a clam-shell tent of some kind up there, so that might limit up-top storage also. Anyway, just thinking through some stuff, thought I'd ask the brain trust for your $.02
Thanks, as always!

There are just 2 of us so the 2 door works great for us. Observe our kitchen set up.

I do not think this is exactly what you meant but.... I am a 2 door guy and I do not think I could really get a bigger ride... 😁

And no I have no regrets. I do not have any storage issues but I too am an empty nester... I fold the back seats down and can stack to the roof.... Have not filled it yet.

Based on the prevailing calculus, I would say the perfect Bronco for you is the three-door (two side doors and one out back). As a "two-door" Bronco owner, I must say that I have no regrets. Challenges aplenty, but no regrets. As a burgeoning minimalist (Is that paradoxical?) I must say that necessity is the mother of invention, and necessity dictates you bring ONLY what you NEED to get by. This past week, I learned that I was able to get by with less, and felt no regret whatsoever. I hope this feedback helps.

The Bronco is a great vehicle am glad they started making them again! Other than the valve problems on 2.7 they’ve been good vehicles! I think Ford learned a lesson on that! Don’t mess with what works! I have 2024 Outer Banks love 2.7 turbos!

I just spent a week camping in Moab. Plenty of room if you pack well and use the space from the floor to the roof, and the window ledges.
I was by myself, but pretty much cooked for 2 and dropped my wife of at the kids on the way, so had her luggage as well.

Curious what kind of tent you have there? Does it work well? We are not frequent campers, any not interested in a RTT, but that kind that allows you access to your tailgate area is appealing.

As far as 2 vs 4 doors, i will ask one important question: will you be taking dogs along frequently? If so, seriously consider 4 doors.

My college age kids ride occasionally and get in and out of rear seat just fine. They are still young nimble and leg room is about the same as 4 doors. I have also ridden back there, it’s fine for a couple hours or so. BUT, my dogs, like most, love to stick their noses out the window and so my Bronco is not their first choice. They still sit back there and enjoy the air with windows cracked, but they get seriously jealous at red lights when we see another dog with the partially open window and head sticking out! Yes, properly harnessed (usually).

So, quick summary:
No pups = 2 door
Yes pups = 4 door

One has to remember that the design of the 2dr allows for a bigger cabin feel due to the location of the side pillars. Driver and front passenger comfort. Nobody drives from the backseat (except my wife).

It's just my wife, my dog, and me. We went with the four-door because we needed space for all three of our stuff. I've owned two-door rigs, Jeeps, and Landcruisers; it was enough space for me but not three. Four doors ride smoother, travel better, and as a bigger guy, feel more comfortable. (although I'm sure the newer Bronco is better than my older rigs) There is something to not having to stack gear on top of gear in the back, on the roof, or out back. I get some have an ego thing about Four Doors not being a "real" Bronco, but I laugh that stuff off as silly. Are two doors more fun off-road? I think so. Are four doors superior on the road and 90% as fun off the road? I think so. If I were building a trail-only rig, I'd go two for sure.

Ha! That is funny. The very 1st super celebration, I saw one! I think it was green? Then a few years latter Susy from Duff's had a local folks BBQ at her place in Knoxville, and there was a 4 door that showed up there also. I can't remember if I have ever seen this one or not. But certainly not a good look! The EB's were never meant for 4 doors!

I’m also a 2 door guy From the start, no need for the extra doors. I did a rear seat delete , and installed a Goose Gear floor. Just the 2 of us. I have no need to have other seating. We just returned from a 4K mile round trip to Super Cel. We do stay in hotels. No roof rack, on board air, Dometic fridge on a slider. I did bring chairs, table, and 10x10 EZ Up canopy, and 2 pcs of luggage. You do need to be creative, just brought the essentials, and it works. In the end, look at your needs, and what uses are needed.

I've never regretted the two door, even for sleeping in. It's just me, and I'm a light packer, though. I love the two door on road and off. Heavily impressed by a man who carried himself and three other adults plus a 60lb dog from NY to TN in his two door for Super Cel. Wouldn't catch me doing that!

FIFY

off road I have found that the longer wheel base has advantages in certain situations (not many but a few) and I have found the shorter wheel base has an advantage in certain situations (not many but a few).

For the locations I TEND to wheel, I run into more situations where the shorter wheel base advantages outweigh the disadvantages. That will be different everywhere you go. A good driver can make all the difference. I am not a good driver. I am out of practice and rusty as hell. I am working on changing that. It is fun to get back out on the course.

It depends on the "trail" you're running. If you're flying across the desert with lots of whoops, then you want as much wheelbase as you can get. That's why the DR is based on the 4-door, not the 2-door, and why there isn't a 2 door BRaptor. I would argue that in general, there are plus and minuses to both on different terrain. We just got back from Moab, and literally on the same trail there were obstacles where the 4-door was easier, and other where the 2-door had an easier time of it.

I would say that you need to determine what you need. Frankly, there's a lot of religious zeal about the choice, especially from the 2-door crowd who think that Bronco's should only be 2-doors because that's the way the EBs were. They have the same argument over on the Jeep boards. "REAL Jeeps have flat fenders!". Personally, I have the 4-door for my wife and I. I like the extra room, and I like the ride better, AND I spend some time running in the desert. But that's me. You need to determine what's right for you. I think that for overlanding, where you have to haul more gear, you might enjoy the extra space. On a related note, have you considered an off-road trailer instead of a rooftop tent? There are some advantages there, not the last of which is that you can then go with the 2-door if you prefer the looks and still haul all your overlanding stuff.

And the 2Dr owners always complain when they make accessories for the 4Dr- and there is none for the 2Dr version.
