Canadian customer so need to deal with snowy winters

daily driver - deciding between base, BB, or BD

Must have:
- 4 door auto 2.7
- 32 or 33 inch tires
- auto start, keyless entry
- heated seats

Would like to have:
- advanced 4x4
- prefer mgv but not sure I need
- locking rear diff

BD in Canada prices out mid60s plus fees so I may be pushed down by budget to BB or Base.

Thoughts ??

@anybody here....

Base Squatch. Heated seat covers from Amazon, <$50 US. Eliminates MGV as a wanna have.

Sounds like Big Bend with mid package is the closest fit.
You can't get some of your must haves on the base (32s, remote start, heated seats).
You won't get any of your wants on either Base or Big Bend without adding Sasquatch to get advanced 4x4 & front and rear lockers, but then the BB is more than the Black Diamond with auto, advanced 4x4, mid.

True, aftermarket alternatives could get him where he wants to be. Have to find an aftermarket remote start too though.

If the Black Diamond goes over what you're wanting to spend. The Big Bend might be your next best option.

You can get everything from your list aside from the MGV and maybe the advanced 4x4, as I'm not sure if you're able to get it on the BB without the Sasquatch package.

You will probably want to change out the tires on the BB since they aren't exactly the most aggressive A/T especially compared to the General Grabber ATX that the BD comes with.

A quick correction to my previous statement, you can a get rear locker on Big Bend without Sasquatch. I guess it's only the Base that doesn't have that option. @Reldn is right, no Adv 4x4 without Sasquatch on Base or Big Bend, but you can add it to Black Diamond.

Ford Pass on his phone? Pretty sure that won't preheat the seats though... Up here, gotta shovel your way through the snow either way, whether it's to get into it or start it to warm it up. I shovel my way to it when I start it to warm it up, and could turn the heated seats on then, but that's my personal routine...

Would the difference in tires mean just height and width? Or tread pattern too?

I guess it’s a question of how much the adv 4x4 would help me In winter and off road ?

Yeah, probably not going to be too much help here. Since almost everything you want is in the Black Diamond Mid package, I would find a way to get this combo to work. I think this combo has a lot of value for the money compared to other models.
How much are you realistically saving by going to a lesser model and how much will that make a difference in payments? There are of course limits to this type of thinking but at least look at the possibility.
We all have budgets unfortunately and it never smart to bite off more than you can chew.

I see the real benefit of the adv 4X4 is during the winter while driving on the road. Around here, you rarely have completely snow covered roads for long stretches. It will be bare roads and then suddenly hit a completely snow covered section. That is where it is nice that it will automatically switch to 4X4 when the tires start to slip. Maybe those type of situations don't happen much in your neck of the woods since they are snow covered more than where I live.

Yes, Advanced 4x4 set in 4A mode (as opposed to 4H) will be very similar to AWD, meaning you can have it on full-time while driving on paved and/or high-traction surfaces, perfect for highways with intermittent patches of snow or ice.

Ford Pass on his phone?
Nope. We need to squash that rumor. Ford Pass Connect will not enable remote start unless the vehicle is properly equipped. For the Bronco, that is Mid package or higher, so even if you get a Badlands with the standard equipment package: no remote start.

Yes, I would assume so but not sure how different makes handle their 4 wheel drive systems exactly work. I had a '17 Explorer Sport and that is how it worked.

You can't get advanced 4x4 with the 4auto mode on a Big Bends without Sasquatch package.

The Black Diamond tires have 3PMSF rating so may be a bit better in snow than some of the other tire offerings. I have tires with this rating on my current vehicle and they are a giant improvement over generic all season tires without having to be removed in the summer like dedicated snow tires. https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/techpage.jsp?techid=125

Locking diff is standard on black diamond but available on Big Bend.

MGV seats are Black Diamond and not on Big Bend.

Everything else you want (remove start and heated seats) is covered by mid package on either one.

Except for price Black Diamond has everything your asking for in it. Otherwise you have to step down to Big Bend where your sacrificing the 4auto mode and MGV seats. You have to decide if the extra cost is worth it for those 2 features. You can get 4auto mode by upgrading to sasquatch on Big Bend but that defeats choosing big bends to save money over the BD.

You know someone is going to choose that as their screen name now, right? Maybe you should reserve it and set it aside for an admin. :ROFLMAO:

Do you plan on taking your daily driver for serious off roading or do you need it just to tackle the Canadian winter roads? Seems like as others have said a BD mid pkg would get you everything on your list. My rule of thumb is if it is something I need/ really want and it is not easy to add later then I get the vehicle from factory with the option. For example the rear locker it can be added but that is not something I want to do to a new vehicle and they are not cheap. A lift and or tires is an easy fix so I would not worry about Sasquatch. The advanced 4x4 is another part that would be better from the factory. Either BD or Any Sasquatch.
However, just to get your must haves you will need to be at the BB mid. If some of your would like to haves move over to the must have then I would look at the BD. Any option is going to work for you but you just might have to change your must haves to fit your budget and rely on either the mud or sand Goat mode to help negotiate the weather.
