Ford will not honor claims. I filed a claim for water stains on my seat when they get wet. Ford Surface Care denied my claim because I didn't report it within 3o days of the stain. I guess I shouldn't have tried to clean it myself. Ford is showing they are more and more of a RIP OFF company every year!!!!! I am beginning to see why my stock shares are tanking. Ford SUCKs these days.

I’m curious as to the events that caused the seats to get soaked? Top off rainstorm or water fording incident?

You got me... I'm sure my explanation will be used to deny ALL other claims now.

I am only curious because my hard top has leaked a couple of time in a heavy downpour. I have the MGV and washout floors though. And the only time my panels have come off is when I am doing maintenance on the seals. Totally sucks though. It’s a freaking soft or removable top. The bottom line is the seats should be able to deal with it. By chance have you tried reaching out to Ford directly? Sometimes it is the dealership making the call and not wanting to push the issue because of laziness.

It could be the quick drying of the summer sun. Outside of that area that drove through that's storming, its still summer elsewhere. So I let the sun dry it out, the only thing I can think of that keep causing the residue to rise.

Yes I called the Surface Care Protect line, then after the denial I called the ESP line. They told me to call................... Surface Care Protect. I initially file the claim through my dealership, but my advisor kept telling me they are slow responding, so I called.

Can you post a pic of the stains? When my seats got wet (leather) they had some white spots, but those went away after a short period.

Extended warranties are never a good value in my opinion and I never buy them. I am sure there are some who have benefitted from them but for the most part, they make is issuing company money.

For an off-road vehicle, they make even less sense to me unless you are going to leave the vehicle bone stock and never take it off road.

If they deny a claim, even valid claim, most people move on and don't fight the decision due to legal costs associated with fighting it, the red tape involved or whatever. A dealership can also flag your vehicle so that other dealers in the network can see they've denied the claim due to modification, abuse or whatever..

These extended warranties and companies are not in the bizz of loosing $$$$.

As a Ford Dealer Service Technician, I purchase the Ford ESP on all my vehicles, while yes, there are certain stipulations and rules, it's well worth it. Everytime I have to work on someone's vehicle that doesn't have an ESP or Easycare contract, I feel terrible. I can't control the price of the repairs needed for each vehicle, but I highly recommend either one to help offset the cost of owning any vehicle.

Many times it's the dealers discretion when it comes to warranty or extended warranty claims for repairs, but there are times that we want to help, but our hands are tied because of the terms of the agreement. As much as I hate the phrase "buyer beware", always check the fine print and stipulations on any extended service plan on anything in your life and if some of the terminology seems ambiguous, ask, if the person in front of you can't answer, have them reach out to someone who will. I do this all the time to try and be a customer advocate on all vehicles that come across my desk.

I can't say that I have had that experience with Ford ESP thru Budco, but I have not had an interior damage claim either. This is the 4th vehicle that I purchased an extended Ford warranty on and have been generally pleased with the results. First vehicle broke a half shaft and no issues with replacement and the other claim, the dealer noticed the issue while in for scheduled maintenance. I did have a 2004 SCrew that the upholstery would get water marks and the fix was to dampen the entire seat panel and let it dry uniformly..

I have had pretty good response from my ESP on my Powerboost. My sunglasses holder broke. Took it in on another ESP coverage item, told them it had broke a few months ago. They first were going to deny it as ESP doesnt cover anything more than electrical mechanical, but they took care of it, splitting with the dealership and factory 30/70.
The holder was $785.
But, I wholeheartedly belive that in this case, the dealer made it happened more than the factory, and kinda goes to the point that a good dealer helps in these situations, but not a guarentee for sure.

You definitely want to establish a good working relationship with your service person. They have wiggle room if they try for you. My old service guy was great. Working on a new person right now.

I am surprised that the ESP would even cover seats that had gotten soaked. MGV interior maybe, but if I allowed cloth or leather seats to get soaked I never would have even thought of trying to use a warranty.
