As a Ford Dealer Service Technician, I purchase the Ford ESP on all my vehicles, while yes, there are certain stipulations and rules, it's well worth it. Everytime I have to work on someone's vehicle that doesn't have an ESP or Easycare contract, I feel terrible. I can't control the price of the repairs needed for each vehicle, but I highly recommend either one to help offset the cost of owning any vehicle.
Many times it's the dealers discretion when it comes to warranty or extended warranty claims for repairs, but there are times that we want to help, but our hands are tied because of the terms of the agreement. As much as I hate the phrase "buyer beware", always check the fine print and stipulations on any extended service plan on anything in your life and if some of the terminology seems ambiguous, ask, if the person in front of you can't answer, have them reach out to someone who will. I do this all the time to try and be a customer advocate on all vehicles that come across my desk.
