Headed on down to my local Ford dealer today to check out Carbonized Gray. I thought it would be interesting to do a side by side with my Sting Gray Rubicon. After seeing Carbonized Gray in person I really like it. I was sold on Cactus Gray, but after seeing Carbonized, I'm 50/50 on the two colors. One thing worth mentioning, depending on how the sun was hitting the Carbonized Gray it appeared darker or lighter.

Today was a field trip day! A local Ford dealer just received a 2021 Ford Explorer in Carbonized Gray. I had to see it with my own two eyes. I liked it. Actually, I liked it a lot! They also had a 2020 Ford Explorer in Magnetic Gray so I was able to see the difference between the two colors. I brought along my 3M color samples and found Magnetic was similar to the 3M color, 1080-G211 Gloss Charcoal Metallic and the Carbonized was similar to the 3M color, 1080-G201 Gloss Anthracite. I will add that I like the metallic feature in the paint. Similar to the OP's initial pics, I attached a few more pics for your viewing pleasure.

As a side note, that Explorer came with the 2.3L 3ngine. My 2 door Bronco with a 2.7L should have a lot of get-up-and-go!

Thanks @BuzzyBud

Nothing like lots of pictures from different angles and in different light to choose colors. You’ve been helpful, indeed.

Hell, I’d buy an Explorer in that color...

Nice! Without seeing them side-by-side, it definitely seems like you wouldn't be able to tell the difference in the colors. So like if I like Magnetic on my wife's 2020 Explorer, I'll like CG on my 2021 Bronco!

I came away from my field trip today all pumped up! My carbonized gray 2 door Badlands may not be the prettiest in the mall parking lot, but out on the trails where it belongs my Badlands will be a superstar! Bring it on!!

Carbonized Gray is cool!

Got on the order page at Ford.com for the new Mustang Mach E. I can get a long-range 4-wheel drive Mach E for 55K. I’d order one in Carbonized Gray... can get delivered in 60 days!

To bad we can't get our Broncos in 60 days. Carbonized Gray is still hanging out at the top of my list. Cactus used to be number one, but thinking it might be aliitle to light for my preference. Plus I'm thinking the Carbonized Gray will go better with the MIC Gray Top.

The one thing I love about my Sting Gray is how it changes color depending on the light.

The one thing I hate about my Sting Gray is the fact that the flat gray thing is really getting played out. It was OK when it was just a few Jeeps and a Toyota or two. Now you see it on Civics, Subarus and Hyundai. I've even seen a Dodge Journey and Grand Caravan in destroyer gray. Which is the Dodge name for sting gray.

@BuzzyBud you did a great job describing color coordinates...
I do videography (modestly) so have studied color science. Gray card (18% gray) is considered absolutely neutral. Could be why Grayish tones (Cactus, etc) look different depending on lighting....
