Hello,
I'm trying to decide on when in late Oct/early Nov would be the best time to go to the Off-Roadeo in Texas. I am flying in from Ontario, Canada.

The two options I'm thinking of is:
1. Wed - Fly in to Austin, drive to Marble Falls and enjoy the area
Thurs - explore and enjoy the area
Fri - go to Off Rodeo
Sat - lazy morning and drive to Austin and explore Austin
Sun - Fly home

2. Sat - Fly in to Austin, drive to Marble Falls and enjoy the area
Sun - explore and enjoy the area
Mon - go to Off Rodeo
Tues - lazy morning and drive to Austin and explore Austin
Wed - Fly home

Can anyone give opinions on which would be better and why? Right now from a flight cost the 2nd option is a little cheaper but not much. I guess I'm worried that for option 2 if everything is open on the Sun or will be not be able to do some things because of stores or activities being closed.

Marble Falls is a small-ish, Hill Country town so you might have some issues with businesses closing early or closed all day on Sundays. but there are a few things you can do that it won't matter, Like exploring the area. there are several lakes in the area. Longhorn Caverns is close by - it is not the usual Hill Country cave it was formed by an ancient river. Kingsland Slab is close - it is a section of the LLano River that flows across a bed of Granite, and Enchanted Rock is not too far - it is the largest pink granite monadnock in the United States, this park fills up quick on weekend so you may need to go early.
If you are into mountain Biking there is Spyder Mountain near by, it is a downhill park with lifts that take you back to the top like a ski lift. they rent bikes and have trails for all abilities.

I don't think either option is bad and that time of year we should have decent weather, but it is Texas so it could be in the 30s or 90s or anywhere between, so weather may dictate your adventures.

There are several places to stay in Marble Falls so you don't have to stay at the Horseshoe bay resort unless you really like to stay at resorts, it is pretty nice. But if you want to save a little/quite a bit stay in Marble Falls.

You should try Bluebonnet Cafe it is a great place for breakfast, lunch, dinner and pie. it is Texas comfort food and they sell a ton of pies. Oh and did I mention Pies?

Exploring Austin
If you want the Best BBQ (in the world) go to Franklin BBQ or Micklethwait Craft Meats or La Barbecue all of these places close when they run out of food so you have to get in line early. Franklin's line starts at 7-8 am for 11am lunch the other two get in line maybe 30 minutes to 1 hour before their 11:00am opening. Or you can get good BBQ at Stiles Switch BBQ and they are usually open later even dinner and you can see one of the locations used for the filming of Dazed and Confused - that has an early Bronco in it.
You could check out the Bat bridge on Congress depending on the time you go, the bats migrate south in late fall.
You can hike to the top of Mount Bonnell fairly short hike 102 stairs.
you can check out Barton Springs and Zilker park
There is always the Capital you can tour.
and Austin is known to be weird so there are lots of kitschy stores all over the city.

You might want to check flights to San Antonio to compare prices it is only a few miles further, as another option. Lots to do here too.

You are going to love the Off-Roadeo.

Thank-you so much for all the details. I had Bluebonnet Cafe on my list of places to go for sure, I've heard so much about it. Thanks also for the advice about flying into San Antonio, unfortunately I could not find any direct flights from Toronto or Buffalo so that will be out for us. I'm lucky if I can get my husband on a direct flight anywhere.
I am looking so forward to the Off-Roadeo, I've heard so many great things about it.

Yeah San Antonio may be the 7th largest city in the US but we have very few direct flights into our airport. We are the large city with a small town feel.
Did you take delivery of your Bronco yet? You will love BORT it might make you want to have some fun in your Bronco. We have been all over and have wheeled at least once every month since we got our Bronco.

This is all great information. Very well put together. I'm going to share with others too.

@ansteyk Choose option 2. This way you can go to Franklin's BBQ (must stop). They are closed on Mondays and Tuesday will open at 10:30am. But you will have to get in line early. It is that popular. My wife nd I both love the Austin area.

We did your 'Option 2', basically... though not sure there' s much difference other than flight $$ and maybe OR is busier on Friday. We stayed at HS Bay resort. Explored Marble Falls and went to Longhorn Caverns on Sunday, which was nice since it was like 113° that day. Drove around a lot and enjoyed the sunsets. A lot of shops in Marble Falls were closed on Sunday, but don't miss the candy store!! In Austin, I'd recommend Coopers BBQ downtown (if you don't want to stand in line at Franklins) and checking out the grounds of the state capital. As they say, 'everything's bigger in Texas'. We also drove around UTexas Campus (I was honestly not super impressed, but we like to tour campuses). If you're a Friday Night Lights (TV Show) fan, you can do some sight-seeing. I'm sure there's tons that we missed.
