Going Alone?

My wife and I are going to Vegas in May and while I am there, I would like to take full advantage of the "free ($275)" chance to go to the Nevada Off-Rodeo. She would rather hang by the pool than go off-roading all day, so it looks like I might fly solo on this one. Someone reassure me that I will still have fun even if I go alone!

I think you will, even though you would have a great time with her there to experience it. And I think she'd really enjoy it too -- beautiful scenery to enjoy even if she's not that into off-roading (yet 😎). I know pool days are nice, but this is a really cool chance to do something fun. In my opinion, every Bronco owner should go just for the adventure, memories, and chance to make some connections with the community, even if you already have skills. Either way, I hope you both have a great time on the trip!

LIke Laura said, you will enjoy it either way, and I think she would enjoy it as well.
I did Texas OffRoadeo alone, and had a good time. But with that being said many of the couples that went, the women ended up doing most of the driving. I thought that was awesome... sooo... if you want to wheel... leave her at the pool.. Lol.. but if you want to split duties. Or her just be a passenger Reassure her, it will be a great time, and both will leave with a big smile and memories.

I went alone to New Hampshire. I drove my Basesquatch there from Ohio. I had planned to take my daughter with me. While we waited for our date to come up, she forgot, and scheduled to work that weekend. I cancelled our hotel reservation, and tent camped at the Gunstock Mountain campground. It rained, all weekend, non stop. Regardless, I had a blast. There is a lot to learn about the offroad capabilities of the Bronco, and the technology that just blows away the previous generations.
I've owned 4x4's since the early 80's. I wouldn't call myself an expert by any means, but I'm not a novice either. Off Roadeo is a no B.S. offroading course. I would grade the obstacles as moderate + for much of the course. When you are finished, you will have a renewed respect, and confidence in your Bronco. Don't worry if your personal Bronco isn't Sasquatch equipped. They will demonstrate how to successfully drive off road without it.
You're probably lucky that your wife isn't going. Once she gets a Bronco off road, she might never give it back to you.

I bet you will have a good time.
I did learn something today. I have been to Las Vegas many times never knew they had pools. She does know they have other things to do there. πŸ˜‚

Going solo may lead to you chauffeuring the instructor. Not a bad outcome...

The pools are a big deal there for some, @Jakob1972! I had former coworkers who would go to tradeshows early just to hang at the pools.

You will have fun! If you can talk your wife into it though my wife and son joined me and they both loved it. My wife just humored me by going but she ended up really enjoying it. Between that and the Bronco Nation Basecamp at overland expo it got her really into the Bronco even though she had already liked it and got her excited about overlanding and adventuring.

That could get expensive, 2 people buying parts online, without the others knowledge.... πŸ€£πŸ˜‚

Lol I wish. It's usually more like don't order .... so I have something to get you for your b-day, Christmas ect so I don't and it is always limited and sells out like Shelby stuff or Bronco flannels ect. First world problems.

I totally agree !!!
Try to talk your wife into it.
I haven’t done a rodeo YET .

But fundamentally it’s stellar when you can get the spouse as understanding & involved as possible.

Add another dedicated pool day sometime / somewhere if needed.
Do your best to get the whole family involved.

Definitely need to order, and say it's and early bday gift... haha. .. but try the approach... its a late bday gift... those can add up, and no one remembers πŸ€£πŸ˜‚

You can go alone. I did, driving my BL/Sas up there. First thing in the morning (early arrival helps!) scout out and "claim" a truck that is as identical to yours as possible. This will give you an apples-to-apples experience. PSUTE, good point: I was fortunate in that the instructor road with me, so I got one-on-one advice. Maybe you will, too? I concur with RNC, above: "Don't worry if your personal Bronco isn't Sasquatch equipped. They will demonstrate how to successfully drive off road without it."

I invited my wife, and she firmly declined. A thought: Posters have said, "Your wife will love it!" Well, maybe not. Be sensitive to what her true, unspoken feelings are. It could be, "Hope you have fun, dear--but this is not for me," and efforts at persuasion may never change things. In that case, you have to work out, and articulate, some sort of marital understanding. At least, I did!

True. You and her know more about your dynamic then we do. If she doesn't go and your guest is free just register her so you get her "gift" I didn't get one but both of my guests did. It's very cool but I don't want to ruin the surprise.

My wife and I did the exact same thing in Vegas last year! Still had a blast. I was the only one in our group there solo so I rode with Diego one of the instructors which was fun. You get more drive time because you don’t have to feel like you should give your wife a chance to try it and then he took me for a fast lap around their corse and it was a blast!

I have seen what those pools look like after some wild parties in Vegas, I may never go into the water again.πŸ˜‚

With two daughters, pools are the bane of my existence on vacation. Just got back from a trip to Naples, FL and we spent 3 full days just hanging out at the AirBnB so the girls could swim in the pool. I'm like...did you know there's an ocean RIGHT OVER THERE? I can sit around and do nothing at home. When I'm on vacation, I want to do stuff!

I went alone, I still had a blast. I wish I would have taken someone to enjoy it with me and take more pictures/videos of everything, that was a challenge while driving and being alone. But other than that I still loved it. And it helped me step out of my comfort a little bit and talk to those around me.

Thank you all for the responses about your experiences. If it didn't cost so much just for someone to ride shotgun, I might be able to convince her to go, but I am sure she would much rather throw $500 at a slot machine than ride on a trail all day! Once (if) my Bronco (WT, SAS, LUX, MIC...yes, every horrible things to select) gets made, there will be plenty of time to take her up on all of the awesome trails we have here in Colorado.
