My wife and I plan to attend in June and are going to make a week of it as we have never been to this part of our world before. How many days would you recommend in Moab if you were also visiting Colorado as well? Flying into Denver.

Thoughts?

Are you going there for the Moab Off-Roadeo? Lucky you!

However long you're there, it won't be enough. I gather you're not going there with your own Bronco, but will rent a vehicle in Colorado and drive there? If at all possible, rent a Wrangler, spend the money. I reserved one in Salt Lake, and when Enterprise couldn't produce it upon arrival, I had them call all over until they located one, and it made a big difference. (I needed to hit backroads to research a book.) That Wrangler, probably a stock "Sport" model, will still let you explore lots of fascinating and scenic trails. And having done the Off-Roadeo, you'll have a feel for trail driving. Check this out, very detailed with accurate trail ratings.:

I'll leave Colorado recommendations to others. Moab will be worth whatever time and money you can indulge. So indulge!

I second the book, it is great. There are 10's of trails a nice Bronco can do easily, so the time there is up to you. I have been going there since 1998 and now live there part time, so I have done almost all trails. I never get tired of doing them. The scenery is awesome. First timers usually like Shafer trail ""up" and Long Canyon "down". Chicken corners is a fun and scenic trail. Hell's Revenge and Fins and Things are fun. Poison Spider is a little tougher and fun. 7 Mile Rim trail is great.

My favorite town for trails in Colorado is Ouray. If you are up for "pucker" do Black Bear pass. Not a really hard trail, but a lot of "pucker".

Does anyone recall the trail that the Moab Off-Roadeo goes on? Is it Hell's Revenge?

Moab, Canyon Lands and Arches national parks are all right there together. You could spend a couple weeks in just those three parks and could do all the off-roading, biking, kyacking, hicking and exploring that your heart desires. Within a couple hours there are dozens of other great locations to visit.

You won't be disappointed, I promise.

I'll be attending the moab off roadeo in mid March.

We did Kokopelli in May. I think they do top of the world when the rivers arenā€™t full.

Did you go to the NH off-roadeo?
Yes, and I enjoyed it, but if I had the time and money I would have done Moab, the Mecca of off-roading.
What NH offers is exposure to New England trails. At the risk of over-generalizing, they're different from the West. More woods and branches and thus pinstriping your truck sides. Rocks are more irregular in spacing and size, as glaciers just dumped them all over the place. More streambeds, which may be rocky or muddy. And things which NH Off-Roadeo didn't cover, such as the ownership and access issues to properties with centuries-old deeds. You might be on a NH Class VI road, enjoying the remoteness and solitude and then...a gate! Should, or can, you open it and proceed? For my money, uncertainty is part of what makes off-roading exciting.

Also, the scenery and ambiance is distinctly...New England!
