I can spend a weekend in the Bahamas for less than $2,000

I mean… honestly if I had $2000 of free money and could only choose between the Off-Roadeo and the Bahamas I am 100% without-a-doubt choosing the Off-Roadeo. So… that’s a good sign for the Off-Roadeo? I guess? Maybe?

BUT I suspect that opinion puts me in the extreme minority.

We didn't get winched but apparently the week before us did. We just couldn't make it up all the granite boulders, too muddy. It was great.
That must have been the week I went. Only one of us needed to be winched. The kid that was showing off for his girlfriend and couldn’t keep his foot off the pedal in the mud. NH seemed not challenging at all IMO.

$2000 sounds steep but in all actuality, it is in line with most driving experiences.

The California Superbike School or the Skip Barber Driving School 1 day events are much higher cost. @ $2700/$3400
I'm glad I went back in the 90's when it did not seem they cost as much. Of course you do come out with a certification :)

The price is beyond insane compared to traditional vacation excursions.
Here is an example of an excursion my family did in Cozumel:
https://www.viator.com/tours/Cozumel/Private-and-Customizable-Jeep-Excursion-in-Cozumel/d632-8916P1

$89 per person. 6 hours in our own Jeep, lunch and beer provided, beaches and snorkeling included, cost of entry to a national park included, AND transportation to & from our hotel.
How can Bronco Offroadeo justify these prices?
No way would I travel to or vacation in Mexico. Too dangerous.

It really makes me wonder if Offroadeo is going to go out business soon. How much was Ford subsidizing each owner for their “free” ticket? The location and amenities had to cost a tiny fortune, not including 20+ Broncos at each place.

I don’t see this being a viable long term business If the only way to keep it running is charging $2,000 a day for two people.

Time will tell.

Value is subjective. But in all fairness, any marketing person would tell you that they should've advertised it for $1,995. :geek:
Chris here. I drive a 2-door Velocity Blue 2023 Ford Bronco Badlands with Sasquatch, Lux, a 2.7L V6, and an automatic transmission. It’s fun.

Curious as to what the current cost is for a driving passenger?

The cost seems high, but I thought “bring your own Bronco” at $550 is high, so maybe I just don’t know what stuff costs these days…

From BOR's site:
  • Passenger (Non-Driving) Guest – $495 each, plus tax
  • Driving Guest – $595 each, plus tax
  • Under 18 Guests (not eligible to drive) – $395 each, plus tax

So…

$600 for driving guest, lets say $800 for the main driver, $600 for Bronco use…

I guess its in the ballpark…

Value is less subjective when you have competing products to make comparisons against. There are hundreds of vacation excursions that offer more for less.

There are also other programs that can teach you to drive offroad for far less. For example, Kansas Rocks Off-road park teaches an all day 101 course for $100 per vehicle. It’s where I first learned to off-road in my Jeep. While I didn’t get a fancy Yeti water bottle, they sent us home with more education and experience.

What would the day look like for people going a second time? If it's the same as the first time, I don't see the point. For example, since I already went through all the orientation, I would love to be able to freely use trails while there - maybe?

this is how they describe the 2nd time:

How will my Return Owner experience differ from my first visit to Bronco Off-Roadeo?
As a return owner you will experience the same great Bronco Off-Roadeo program you have grown to know and love, however, each Bronco Off-Roadeo location offers unique terrain, trails, challenges, and scenery for a distinct, world-class adventure. A special location-specific, gift – exclusive for return owners - is waiting for you as well as our expert trail guide team to help you get the most out of your Bronco.

Eh, I don't know if it was ever intended to be a long-term offering to be honest. Strikes me as something that the marketing firm came up with for the Bronco launch... it was wildly successful, and now they are trying to figure out if there are other opportunities out there to keep it going or expand the business.

That said... the Texas location definitely seems more setup for the long-term, and they've started offering packages for corporate events and whatnot. So maybe I'm wrong?? Whether that was always the plan or if it was just the side-effect of their success... I don't know. But the other 3 locations feel more temporary in nature.

I’m trying to remember but I think there was an original commitment of three years for the Off-Roadeo. This is their way of seeing if they can keep a good thing going as a stand alone. All about viability

My Potosi is an interesting location. I found an article from 2019 when the Boy Scouts was trying to sell the land to a developer for $90 million. That included all 1,150 acres. Not sure how the sale shook out, but I’m sure Ford/Bronco Offroadeo paid a pretty penny for their piece of land. It doesn’t seem like the current offering could make that location sustainable. I could probably look it up on the local county assessors site and see how much money exchanged hands (I probably won’t because I’m not that emotionally invested in this issue)

The Moab location uses public trails, so it certainly has to be one of the cheaper spots to operate.

A friend of mine hasn’t used his Offroadeo ticket yet. I was thinking of tagging along with him - but I didn’t realize the first guest fee has also doubled!

I may never go back.

They’re likely leasing all four locations, so not sure if it would appear in the assessors website anyway.

I know in New Hampshire they’re just leasing from the ski resort… but the only reason why I know that is because the ski resort is owned by the county.

I guess the bigger question is what would YOU pay to attend a second off-roadeo?

What would you consider a fair price and at what point is the cost exploitive?
