My Pony has an EGR. I thought my Ego Boost 2.3L engine was clean for the enviornment?

What is an EGR cooler on a 2.3L Ego Boost gas engine.Ford is equipping the Ranger's 2.3L with an Exhaust Gas Recirculation ("EGR") system that also includes a tiny EGR Cooler. By now you probably know that clogged EGR Coolers have led to the early death of countless diesels over the years, and I've never seen one fitted to a Ford gas motor. Nonetheless, there it sits on 2.3L Ranger and according to Ford Parts on my 2022 Bronco. I thought technology had progressed passed the need for EGR on gas motors in general. It appears I was wrong, and 'diesel like' emissions systems are now being fitted to gas motors.see video https://www.svtperformance.com/threads/wtf-ford-ecoboost-engines-now-have-egr-coolers.1182859/ Part #LB5Z9F464C MSRP $211.67.

Is this something else I have to worry about , besides carbon build up. I want to keep the environment clean and tread lightly, but Ford just wanted to make money. If this Ego Boost was built in Mexico who does not care about the environment, how do we know all this pollution garbage with coolant hoses all over the engine. Maybe no one can keep the horse barn door (Uk bonnet) open long enoughđŸ˜„

One good thing is the pollution garbage is warranted for Years!

ChatGPT says:

Hi there! Based on your comment, it seems that you are concerned about the warranty coverage for the EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) system in your Ford Bronco. It's great that you took the time to speak with Ford's Customer Care team to get more information on the warranty coverage.
According to what you shared, the warranty coverage for the EGR system depends on whether it is considered an EPA control part or a non-control part. EPA control parts such as catalytic converters are covered for up to 8 years, while non-control parts may only be covered for up to 2 years. However, there seems to be some confusion around whether the EGR system is considered a control or non-control part.
In terms of the EGR system causing issues, you are correct that carbon buildup can be a problem with Direct Injection (DI) engines like the 2.3L EcoBoost. Having a functioning EGR system can help reduce carbon buildup and improve overall engine performance.
As for the specific warranty coverage for the 2.3L EcoBoost engine in the 2024 Mustang and Bronco, I'm afraid I don't have that information off the top of my head. It's best to reach out to your Ford contact for clarification or consult the warranty documentation for your specific vehicle.
I hope this helps clarify some of your concerns. Let me know if you have any other questions or if there's anything else I can assist you with!

Now what's DAN (Do Anything Now) say? 'Cause he ain't woke and chained to be PC

Also, could I delete or Upgrade it?

Well that’s not the video that I was expecting!!!
I was not looking forward to an EGR Video but a GNR video! 😳
Maybe even as much as an ELO or STP (Not the Motor Oil, but Stone Temple Pilots) video!!!

I thought Ego ment "environment-air" and we all need a boost from time to time.

"It appears that Ford Engineers found that the mid-size truck’s 2.3L EcoBoost engine required an EGR Cooler in order to meet modern emissions regulations. Turns out that EGR Coolers are finding their way onto all sorts of new Ford engines. Recently, we were taking a look at a 2020 F-150 equipped with the 2.7L EcoBoost and tuned by 5-Star tuning.https://www.svtperformance.com/threads/more-egr-coolers-for-ford-ecoboost-engines."1189968/#:~:text=It%20appears%20that%20Ford%20Engineers%20found%20that%20the,the%202.7L%20EcoBoost%20and%20tuned%20by%205-Star%20tuning.

I guess were all got boosted from the horse!đŸ˜„

  1. This post may be helpful if you try to by past EGR.
  2. "EGR on any engine, but especially a turbo diesel, is an epicly bad idea that only government bureaucrats would support. Unfortunately the factory software can be problematic, if the EGR is deleted, in two areas.
  3. First if the PCM doesn't "see", electrically speaking, the EGR valve it doesn't properly control the electronic engine cooling fan. The result is the fan isn't commanded to 100% even though the engine is hot and needs cooling. If the truck is driven empty / used lightly the owner can be unaware of the problem because there has never been a need for maximum cooling. This kind of user may only note hmm my A/C isn't as cold sitting at a light or idling for a while. There are a couple of fixes, 1st just leave the EGR valve hooked up and the system works as programmed. 2nd install a manual override to force the fan to 100% AKA blue wire mod. 3rd remove the computer controlled fan and install a mechanical fan out of the 7.3.
The second problem is that during heavy load / sustained high power operation the factory software will command EGR flow at high load/temps purely to reduce combustion temps, not to meet any emission requirements. This is not what I would have done, (I would favor a fueling reduction to control temps) but that is not what Ford programmed and as a result, if you just delete the EGR system, change nothing else, and then continue to work it hard like a truck yes you may damage it (melt pis).
  4. The solutions to this problem are many, the simplest being to alter the programming however the EPA has aggressively prosecuted many shops for this and as a result almost impossible to get it done today. However the next couple of options that occur to me are, in no particular order, 1st install a good monitoring solution and let off the throttle if/when it gets to hot. 2nd leave the EGR system operable and tuning mostly stock unless... 3rd perform modifications that reduce or eliminate the problem ( high flow exhaust, better intercooler, high flow intake, better turbo etc.(basically any mods that reduce EGT's) 4th install a water/methanol spray system that is activated by high EGT's. "
  5. I have no clue what they are saying except an Ego Boost many not be good for the environment, all this carbon guck is getting into intake values , turbo , oil serarator and now EGR. Cant Ford make a good V8 like in the old days. My RRS 375 /375 Coyote engine gets good highway mpg and is fast for 5500 lbs. My old Porsche 4.5 V8 twin turbo was much faster but that carbon gunk was all in intake tubes and Porsche said normal. Just clean the big tubes with a cloth every one and while. Just high carbon gasoline. Two BMW 4.0 engine replaced due to USA "bad gas".
  6. I will feed my horse with the right hay to keep his gas dowm.😆

Common Ranger issues with Ego Boost

from Watching this video it seems like a really easy diagnosis. once the engine sounds like a diesel then you might have an EGR issue, or maybe just a diesel?
Frank you are referencing videos from Australia, the Euro/Aus market for the Ranger has several different engines are you sure these concerns are for the Ego Boost in your Bronco?
