Hi Friends. Contrary to the rumors, I am not dead, just had a very busy winter. Anyway, I wanted to write up one of my winter projects- getting the front and rear Fog lights up and running on the Bronco. It took a little forscan work, a little wiring, and a little jerry-rigging, but everything is up and running. I wanted to get these set up for a little more visibility for the truck and I did not necessarily want to burn an upfitter switch on these.
Step one was to order and install the double fog light switch.

There are a couple different versions of this depending on whether you have the puddle lights or not, but the one I used was M2DZ-11654-CC https://www.ruxerparts.com/oem-parts/ford-headlight-switch-m2dz11654-cc
Install was an easy plug and play- pull down the panel, unplug the old switch, plug in the new.

Next step was to use Forscan to turn the lights on in the bronco’s computer system. This to me, was the part I was most scared to do in the entire process. I will confidently cut into a wiring harness or drill holes in a panel, but I was afraid I would foul up something and turn the truck into a very expensive paperweight. It ended up being no big deal and super easy. There are a lot of good references on how to do the forscan work over on bronco6G and I relied on these three threads- forscan spread sheet, Front fogs and rear fogs a lot:
https://www.bronco6g.com/forum/thre...k-sport-mode-chimes-seatbelts-and-more.28489/

https://www.bronco6g.com/forum/threads/factory-fog-light-switch.22937/

https://www.bronco6g.com/forum/thre...ase-light-using-factory-switch-harness.46382/

These threads are really, really long, and they get a bit repetitive, but all the info you need is there.
Forscan itself requires you do get a couple things- 1) download the program 2) get a license to use it and 3) get an OBDI reader cable to hook up to the computer. I used an older windows lap-top for this and it worked fine.
You download the program and enable the license here
https://forscan.org/home.html
I ordered their recommended cable from amazon. The one I used was
https://www.obdlink.com/products/obdlink-ex/?ref=forscan
You can get a trial license for free, but I paid for the year one, just incase I need to modify anything else.

So the next step is to plug everything in and fire it up. There are a ton of different threads and videos on how to use forscan, so I will point you back to the longer threads on that, but it’s a pretty easy system to use. Save a copy of your configuration first thing though, so if you mess up you can reconfigure back to factory. The 6G working spreadsheet for forscan is here https://www.bronco6g.com/forum/threads/forscan-bronco-working-spreadsheet-double-honk-sport-mode-chimes-seatbelts-and-more.28489/

You need to turn on the front fogs, turn on the front fogs on the display, turn on the front lights themselves, and I also turned on bambi mode so I can keep the front fogs on with the high beams. For the rear, its easier- turn on the rear fogs and turn on the display. I also enabled them with a trailer, but that’s optional.
I grabbed this up from working spread sheet and used it to follow along-

Screenshot 2024-03-21 092551.jpg

While I was in there, I also turned off the dreaded double honk. That alone was worth the price of the cable. I have subsequently adjusted the temp on the heated steering wheel and added Rock Crawl mode, so I got over my forscan fear. It was actually the easiest part of this whole deal.

Once its on in Forscan, its on in the system. Here is my dash display with both sets of fogs on. The front ones are indicated on the bottom, and the rear over on the right.

Wiring and install was the next step. I had a couple sets of KC flex era single lights, so I decided to use those. I have read the fog circuit is like a 5 amp fuse (though I cant find the reference for that) so I wanted something that wasn’t going to be too much draw. These lights draw about an amp a piece, so that should be good to go, and I had what I need to do front and back.

While the flex single is discontinued, you can still find them around-
https://www.ragofabrication.com/pro...im7gF-JLuRa3_MrD1PsFqi68fdjl3iGwrvowriHZsCjOk
They show up on ebay frequently too. They use a bolt on amber shield to change it from clear, and that’s what I decided to use up front. https://offroadalliance.com/product...MI4cbJwdiFhQMVygutBh0avQu8EAQYBiABEgIZivD_BwE
I run the SPV brackets for my pocket lights so I just installed these outboard on that bracket. https://specialtyperformanceparts.c...-sold-separately?_pos=3&_psq=bro&_ss=e&_v=1.0
My bronco has the Mod bumper, so it did not come with foglights from the factory, but it did have all the wiring in place, so it made the front fogs easy to do. I got a DT-2 pigtail from 4X4 Truck Leds that made it easy to plug in and up.
https://www.4x4truckleds.com/crysta...il-pair-2021-ford-bronco-w-hd-modular-bumper/
Once those were installed, it was time to test:

Front.fogs.jpg

Success! The fogs are the bright amber lights on the end. The other glow is the back light on the flex era 3s in the pocket lights. There is another Flex single in the middle and it is wired in with the Flex era 3s for the pocket lights on an upfitter.

I wanted the rear fogs to be red, not amber. I couldn’t find any red filters for the lights, so I had to make my own. I got some acrylic, traced out a pattern and cut it down to shape. I had to simplify the design as they kept cracking when I drilled them out so they ended up more square.

After I cleaned and buffed them out, they bolted up nice to the lights.

Next step was the rear fog wiring. Rear fogs are more of a rest of the world thing, but not really seen much in the US. The bronco has the circuits in the main body harness, but the ends are different. You can order the rear fog and the bumper it goes in, and the rear bumper harness, but that is several hundred dollars (and I am not really committed to this bumper long term). I chose to add a pin to the rear bumper harness on the back driver side connection. This was not too difficult, and I followed along with this series of posts https://www.bronco6g.com/forum/threads/factory-fog-light-switch.22937/page-71#post-2015340 That broke it all down.
You need to get a new terminal pin EU2Z-14421-BA https://www.ruxerparts.com/oem-parts/ford-terminal-eu2z14421ba for plumbing in.
The first step is to find the connector on the rear drivers side. Its tucked in kind of at the back of the rear wheel well. I had to take my mud flap off to find and fiddle with the thing. Here it is after I unplugged the connection. The body connector is circled in red, and the bumper connection is the one in front. Sorry the connector photo looks like someone’s last known photo, but that’s where it is located. I am on the ground, looking up under the bumper.

Once you have the connector disconnected, you need to take apart the bumper side. There is a little grey clip inside you pull out with a pair of needle nose plyers, that allows you to take the weather pack apart. You should slide that apart to expose the two wires (yellow and black) You are going to insert the pin in here.

Connector.2.jpg

You are going to need to cut one of the retaining plugs out, and drill a hole in the backing to pull the new pin into the terminal. The wiring diagram you need is this one:

connector wiring.jpg
You are going to add the terminal in position 3 (right next to the yellow wire). I drilled out the backing and fished the back end of the pin pig tail back through the top of the weather pack.

Connector.4.jpg

Connector.3.jpg

The pin slides in to the block from the back. Just make sure it clicks into the block.

Connector.6.jpg

After that, I just put it all back together, and sealed up the back side of the plug. Remember to put the grey clip back in to lock everything back up.

Harness.2.jpg
It was a bit of a pain to reconnect the body harness. I had to clean up both halves of the connectors, and then hit them both with a little WD-40 to get them to snap into place.

I used some SPV Z-brackets to mount up the lights. I thought initially though these would slide right into place, but I had to drill out a new hole to mount up the lights. I mounted these on the bolts where the bumper mounts up on both sides. The lights sit up higher and closer to the body than the rear tie down hook so I don’t think I will have a clearance problem. When I finally get around to swapping out the rear bumper, I may have to reconfigure how I do this.

Wiring from the terminal to the lights was pretty simple. I cut down the KC harness and wired the pigtail to the positive side. I ring terminated the negative side, and ground it to the body.

Once everything was buttoned up, it was time for the moment of truth…

Success!

These are a little low for chase lights but the work well for fogs. I like having a little more rear visibility to other drivers in fog and snow.

Anyway, that’s how it worked. The scariest part was the forscan stuff but it wasn’t bad. And I didn’t burn an upfitter. Wins all around.

Its been a long winter. They actually wanted me to work at work. But hopefully, with spring/summer starting to happen, I will be able to get out and about with the truck more.

This is an amazing thread…. I too have the mod bumper (2023 OBX) but was told the wiring was not in the bumper… I installed my Oracle fogs to an aux switch, but might pursue this option…. Thanks, @Mal

The pig tails are in there for at least the high/lux vehicles. I dont think its on the mid package vehicles. Its easy enough to check though- pop off the plastic covers around the tow points and look. If you have the plugs, thats where they are.

Thats not my photo, but where it is located. Its got a little blank in the socket.

Here is a good thread on how to do it. https://www.bronco6g.com/forum/thre...ded-and-connected-to-factory-connector.40448/
