So Q&A from Super Celebration West was posted over over on B6G. This comes from the brand manager.

The interior is pretty much production as shown. The plastic, the finishes, etc... what you see is pretty much what you will get.

This was on the Badlands model. Which is already known has washout interior. But if you look at the pics of the rear seat backs they are carpet.

How can you label this as washout interior if the whole interior isn't truly able to be washed out??

I must say I'm highly disappointed. The washout interior was one key feature I wanted. And was the sole reason I was going with the Black Diamond. Guess Ford just made my decision to go with the Big Bend.

I agree, it doesn't make sense especially since the Sport has the rubber/plastic backed rear seats.

I'm wondering if there's something about this being the leather interior as opposed to the marine grade vinyl interior? Maybe still possible for the backs of the vinyl seats to be more washout friendly?

To be fair, Ford doesn't say "interior," but "flooring" as washable instead.

So I don't, and never have, taken the marketing to mean I can hose down the entire interior, but the floorboards only, and the vinyl seats, if equipped. I believe I saw someplace that this Badlands model we keep seeing has the leather seats, not the vinyl.

Does anyone know what an "active" drain is versus a "passive" drain?
Is an active drain like a sump pump?

And yes @SandboxGeneral , this is the leather seats badlands

Great point. Yeah, there could very well be a difference. (y)

Everyone should just pump their brakes till the actual build tools come out. Did Ford ever say you could wash out the whole vehicle, or that there would be drain plugs?

When you lay the rear seats down they essentially become part of the floor.

And yes I saw the part about the seats being leather. That shouldn't change the ability to wash out and easily wipe down all floor surfaces.

I'll disagree with your opinion on that one. My opinion is that the folded down seat is not the same floor as the floor we put our feet on when we sit in the seats.

That's all I have to say in that regard. :)

Maybe it is “OUTSIDE CARPET”; that would be washable.

I agree, however these are all pre-production, and likely (hopefully) that will change with production. Maybe B&P will help us stop doing all this guessing!

They absolutely said that there would be drain plugs in the badlands and to quote Ford

“Post-adventure clean-up is fast and simple with available washable rubberised floors with integrated passive and active drains, plus marine-grade vinyl seating surfaces”

Right, none of that indicates the back of the vehicle would be rubberized. The front floors are rubberized and do drain. Again, wait for the final product.

This was my thought. I have seen lots of boats with carpet. Plus I wash out my cobalt carpet floors one a year or so, the carpet will dry.

I realize it is not "Wash out" but I have used Canvas Back (https://www.canvasback.com/) cargo liners for the back of my trailblazer and expedition when carrying mountain bikes, camping gear etc. It allows the seats to still be folded down, but covers up the carpet so sand and what not can easily be vacuumed or brushed away with a brush. I am sure they will have something for the Bronco and planned on getting this for it anyways.

would indicate this is a final production interior. That was the whole point of my post. Why would they change the attributes of a washout interior just because it has leather seats

Why carpet? How about a hard rubberized plastic. No one needs carpet on the back of a seat. Just something else to rip, tare, get faded, dirty or mildewy.

Well all leather would be better IMO than this.
