Badlands vs. Wildtrak

I think that I have read on a few threads that Ford is listening to our opinions on this forum. If so I want to express my desire that Ford will allow for the marine grade vinyl and rubberized floors on the WildTrak package. I think carpet in an off-road convertible is a recipe for disaster.

Agreed! I’ve got a Wildtrak reserved as well. Don’t necessarily care about the vinyl. I would really like the rubberized floors though.

I have the vinyl seats in my 4Runner, I don’t worry about messing up the seats at all. It does suck trying to vacuum out the dust from the carpet.
I worry what the cost of the Sasquatch package, the mid package, and the 2.7 Added to the Badlands. The Wildtrak will probably be a cheaper option.

Funny that is essentially what went through my mind. I was going with a cheaper base model than the Wildtrak and adding the exact options you noted. But based on the cost of similar upgrades in existing Ford vehicles, my guess was those options would push me over the Wildtrak tag. So I just went with the Wildtrak.

I agree, it would be nice for both to be available on the Wildtrak. If someone wanted carpet, then it would be easy for them to get carpeted floor mats.
I'm very curious about the vinyl seats and how they feel. I've been on plenty of boats and the seats seem very nice and soft. I wonder if they will feel hotter though since I don't know if they will breathe like leather does. I think they will both be hot.

Toyota uses a material called Softex it has the look and feel of leather. I hate the idea for cloth or leather seats in a Bronco. My top will be off almost all of the time.

I'd like to have the rubberized floor but with carpeted mats so I can choose between have the nicer carpet mats and take them out when going off road.

Yes! That is really the thing that might hold me back from a Wildtrak is if the seats and floor aren't an option for it. In my opinion the only 2 models that should be stock with carpet is the base and outer banks.

It will be a lot of work to retrofit a rubber floor after the fact.

As I continue my research of Bronco models prior to the Build and Price arrival, I am seriously leaning toward a blending of the best features found in both the Badlands and the Wildtrak models. Unlike a First Edition, it would allow me to select an Antimatter Blue body and marine grade vinyl interior. It would have the sway bar disconnect, steel bumpers, etc. from the Badlands as well as the 2.7L, modular black top, etc. from the Wildtrak. It would be a “Wildlands” equipped to take me wherever I seek to live my wild life.

If this vision is executed, I might seek an industrial designer to assist me in creating a new badge for my creation. It might have the yellow color of a Badlands badge with the design shape of a Wildtrak badge. "Birth of a Wildlands"

So would that be a Badlands with the 2.7, squatch and a modular painted hardtop? Not sure what the other differences would be. I'd beall for that.

I went with the Badlands. I won’t do a lot of rock crawling, but I want the ability to go anywhere I choose for my next adventure. Rubber flooring was a must for me. I had my fun with a manual in my younger days. Probably will go for the 2.7 and 10 speed auto. Will have to Squatch it to get the 4.7 axles. I will add the high package to get the 12” screen and rest of the goodies in that package. I live in SW Michigan in the snow belt area. A hard top is a must for me. I reserved a 4 door and would like to get the 2” factory lift for more clearance.

Once the build goes live, then we will know where we are at for our budget and what features we can afford.

Yes. I would start with a Badlands and add the options I seek.
Originally I thought about reserving a First Edition, but the limited exterior colors and interior resulted in declining that idea.
I know what I want to add to the Badlands; such as 2.7L, Sasquatch, High Package, Modular Top, etc. It may price out close to a First Edition, but that is OK if I get what I seek.
Hope this helps.

Badlands, Sasquatch, High package and painted modular top. May even include 2" lift if available from factory. Best combination of options for my intended use, Overland exploration.

Excellent!
Are you getting a 4 door?
Maybe head to Alaska?
Love Alaska, especially Prince William Sound.
Now I am based in Maine most of the time.
