I have a question regarding B&O Sound System with 10 speakers including a subwoofer (Lux Package). Is it worth it? Are they really that good?
How about if they offer it as a stand alone for $1,000 or less.
Would you get them if you are a speaker person?

Thanks!

Nice, that's where I was expecting the fronts to be, just like in my old camaro. The experts all seem to agree that kick panels and lower door speakers make for a better sound stage, but with the doors being removable it certainly beats having NO sound stage lol
Yah, I'm hoping to put some 3 way Focal's in the front with the 6.5" woofer in the kick panel, 3 inch mid in the dash location, and tweeter in the A Pillar. Hoping the kick panel is big enough to handle it.

Nice, I also went focal. So far I've got just 2-ways for the front, but i did step up to the K2 elites. I'm still saving up for my rear speakers, sub and amplifier. My goal is to have it all ready for installation next spring. Also looking forward to retiring my stock delco radio after many years of faithful service.

I consider myself a mid-high audiophile at home and in my cars. I just heard the B&O system in a 2020 Platinum F150 and 2020 Raptor. I was not impressed. It was tinny and lacked a "stage" or general location from where the sound originates. Tinny and bright. Lacked thump. The amp did not seem efficient and had to be turned up to ~75% to get a rock beat sounding any good. The guy who bought the truck heard it differently, but we all hear differently when you kick out $70K. I attached a link of a YouTuber who has an opinion too. I have the FE on order so I don't have a choice, but would argue that the stereo upgrade is not worth the price alone. The lux package may be.

I hope the layout for the Bronco works better and that the speakers don't go out with the doors. You need the sound when the top and doors are off.

It would be great if we could get a video like this with the Bronco B&O system!

My current ride is a 2005 Heritage convertible Mustang GT with the Shaker 1000 stereo:
  • 4-speakers: 6"x8" speakers in the front doors and on the rear deck, powered by a AM/FM/CD receiver.
  • 2x 8" dual voice coil woofers located at the mid-line of each door, powered by two amplifiers located in the driver's kick panel.
  • 2x 10" dual voice coil subs in a trunk-mounted enclosure that's powered by four amps (one per voice coil) behind the enclosure.

Whether or not to go B&O is a mind twister as a great thumping stereo with the top down is pure bliss but will the B&O deliver? Maybe I could just add a couple subs with amps to B&O and I'm good to go, but like many I don't want to pay for the LUX package, just a great stereo. I do however want washout floors with marine grade seats, so getting B&O would force me to go Badlands, more expensive than Black Diamond. Ultimately I'd love to trick out the Black Diamond standard 4 speaker stereo by getting it upgraded somewhere with better speakers, add subs and amps etc, but is that going to honor the interior design like the B&O, still be marine washable and not mess up the warranty? Given the speaker integration, marine washout integrity and warranty friendliness of the B&O, feels like adding a couple subs/amps is the only way to go if you want to get off-road dirty with serious speaker thump.

I have a week to finalize my Bronco order, thanks for all the ideas!

I’m getting Lux for other features so I just see the sound system as an added benefit. I wouldn’t get it to have the B&O though if that’s all you’re interested in. Aftermarket is smarter then.

I don't understand why people put so much into a car system then feed it with low MP3 quality.

I totally get your point and I use Spotify Premium which is pretty decent especially when playing in offline mode which doesn't depend on network speed:

With that said my interest is in power so I can hear the music or even a podcast as I have the top down 100% of the time unless it's raining! With all the wind noise I doubt subtle nuances in fidelity are even noticeable but without power and some serious sub, it's a lackluster experience driving a convertible. To each their own I guess ;)

With how technology is now. I recommend getting the upgraded sound for 2 reasons. 1, when the doors and tops are off you get to enjoy the clarity of the music even at higher volumes. 2, upgraded the sound system in the future cause problems with the infotainment system because everything is run on the main head unit. Most and every new vehicle has a noise canceling feature built in and once you change any audio a lot is needed to get a clear sound. Save the headaches in the future and get the upgrade.

I'm not gonna lie, I'm already planning to try and mount a portable CD player onto the dash rail. Super disapointed that ford can't be bothered to give us a CD player in a $30k-$60k vehicle.

If it was a stand-alone purchase I'd have bought it, but I wasn't paying for the Lux or whatever package. I wanted sound deadening too, and paid for the High package even though all I wanted was the additional sound deadening. I'd have paid $1,500 for sound deadening and B&O as stand-alone, but I had to pay more than that to get less than I wanted. Bitter much? Yes, yes I am.

In my Jeep you couldn't hear the radio if driving over 45mph. If over 55 you couldn't talk to people. It pretty much prevented speeding tickets. Hard top is better, and now they have insultation not sure how well that works but I want it.

Excellent review! Thank you!
I use B&O systems in my home and have been impressed by how easily it works with Spotify as well as voice commands via Google Home. I assume Spotify should work well via Apple Car Play. I believe Ford may be planning to use Alexa for voice commands. Any impressions on the interfaces currently available? Were you streaming the music via iTunes perhaps?

What’s an album? Reel to reel? An 8 track tape, a cassette, a VHS, a Betamax, a laserdisc, a DVD, and yes a CD? They are all dinosaurs! And yes I have all of my albums and CD’s and DVD’s!

Just gonna float this out there to the masses. An FYI with all of this modern technology we have today, comes a price. When you plug your devices into the modern vehicles technology centers we are giving access to, and downloading our personal information from those devices. And when you unplug that device your information is permanently stored in that system when you sell or turn in your lease or rental vehicle. Who knows what WiFi grabs. So everyone needs to be careful. Because I can get it with a warrant, and bad people can just get it. I was at a class regarding the new digital license plate technology that is for good or bad coming to every state, and the instructor gave us some technology for that. I am not advocating for any business but here is a link for a product to help protect your personal information.
