I have a question regarding B&O Sound System with 10 speakers including a subwoofer (Lux Package). Is it worth it? Are they really that good?
How about if they offer it as a stand alone for $1,000 or less.
Would you get them if you are a speaker person?

Thanks!

The adaptive cruise control is the primary reason I'm going for the lux package, too. I've never had a car with it and recently test drove a Continental as a potential next car after my MKZ, and the Continental had this feature and I absolutely loved it. It takes all the road rage out of you as the car handles all the speeding up and slowing down. I think this should be a standard feature on all vehicles.
Had my first taste of the adaptive cruise control a few weeks ago in an Explorer, and I definitely see the value. It’s a big reason I plan to get the Lux package.

B&O makes some really good audio equipment. However, car audio and acoustics aren’t always ideal if you’re a serious audiophile.
That sums it up.
No car audio will sound as good as my home system.
But that doesn't mean you can't have better sound in the car environment than the base system.

I wonder how the aftermarket will help us Medium and High package holders when we want to place a 12" sub and an amp in the back? Wish i had some measurements to see if my xplods will fit.
The fact you have Xplods says it all.

My first subs when I was a teenager were kickers. They blew out in under a year. Then upgraded to audiobahns. They last maybe 14 months. Then I bought my xplods. That was 12 years ago. They still work just as good as the day I got them, yes, from Walmart. Both combined were cheaper than a single one of my Audiobahns. When they break, Ill probably buy them again

Yup.
I think a lot of people equate loudness with quality in hifi systems, both at home and in the car. I guess it just depends on what the listener desires out of their systems.

As for cost of the upgraded stereo as a stand alone purchase for $1,000?? It would be a no brained for me. If you haven’t looked at the cost of having an aftermarket stereo installed in your rig lately you may be surprised. I was quoted almost $3,000 from a local stereo shop to install a PIoneer AVIC 8500 deck with a set of mid grade component speakers, 6 inch sub and Amp in my van. Thought that was outrageous so got another estimate and it was about the same. So $1,000 for 10 speakers, sub and not having my brand new rig torn to pieces? Sign me up.

Wow! Did they give you a line item estimate? I wonder how much of that cost was for labor.

If you could DIY installation and just buy the components, say from crutchfield.com, what would the cost have been in that scenario?

Crutchfield is a great site, especially to do your research on what fits your vehicle and adapters and interfaces needed to make everything work, but i've found they tend to be expensive for the product. You can usually save 20-30% by shopping Amazon and Ebay for the products. Of course you may not have the rock solid returns that Crutchfield has and you wont get a discount on the adapters and stuff. Really comes down to how much your spending. If your putting in a $500 system, Crutchfield is probably the best deal because of the installation gear discounts. If your spending $5000 your gonna save $1000+ shopping elsewhere.

That and the integration into the Sync system. There is value to me in a single interface, especially with Apple and Android integration.

Agree! My home system is where I want the acoustic range because that is where I can hear it all. In my vehicle, I want to have more immersion, a feeling of being lost in my music while in the vehicle. I love that feeling in my ragtop! I also like to lose myself but not force everyone else to hear it EXCEPT when I get where I am going. I do like to use my vehicle as a boom box at times at the worksite or camp site.

When I bought my gear it was on sale and no one had a price with shipping that could match.I shop everything around.

Yep the High end head unit in our LTZ suburban died 2 years ago the touch screen would go out, and I replaced it with a mid range Pioneer system from Crutchfield, it is much better than the factory unit. I opted for the non GPS variety as we both have smart phones. But this is the Second vehicle I have had issues with the "high end" factory stereo, Both of them Bose too. I will just do aftermarket upgrades if I find I need a little more in the Bronco. Two of my biggest let downs have been from Bose and Beats. So far I have had good luck with JBL and their sister/Parent company Harmon Kardon.

That's the problem, Bose and Beats. You're just paying for the name on both of those. Most audiophiles I've talked to never recommend those two brands.

So where do you get the most bang for your buck if you were to upgrade to get better sound out of the Bronco, the head unit or the speakers?
Would getting the B&O system give you a good foundation to build better later - ie amps, subwoofer or extra speaker locations?
