Top 5 Accessories that ALL Bronco owners should have

I'll admit I've a lot of time so far this holiday season shopping for Bronco parts, and in the process I've watched multiple "must have accessories" videos. Most of them missed what I would consider to be the actual "must-have" items. So I decided to make my own video on the topic.

THE LIST

Number 1 — User Manual

Number 2 — Third Key Fob

  • Part No. M2DZ-15K601-{x}

The "{x}" will vary based on your exact vehicle configuration. To find the actual part number head on over to https://parts.ford.com, plug in your VIN, and search for the part number 15K601. The correct key fob should pop right up.

Those key fobs will come without the key blank. You obviously don't need the physical key to operate the Bronco, BUT if you want one they (and aftermarket equivalents) are readily available online. (From what I've been told Ford will only sell physical key blanks to licensed locksmiths.)

  • Ford Part No 164-R8168

A quick Google search should pop up with multiple options.

Number 3 — Door Storage

There are TONS of options for this one. And if you have one you really like, I encourage you to post it below... mostly because I'm thinking about changing mine. 😉

Number 4 — Torx Kit

Bronco has Torx, a lot of Torx. And a ton of Torx Plus too. The tool kit included with the Bronco only includes a fraction of what you actually need to work on your Bronco.

The kit I have is available here. Not sure if I would recommend it though, as it is showing signs of rust. So if anyone has any solid alternatives, post 'em!

Number 5 — Floor Mats and Mud Flaps

Use your FordPass points for these!!

Ford upgraded PATS (Passive Anti-Theft System, aka: SecuriLock) around the 2013-2015 model year, and now requires a uniquely generated timed code in order to program the keys. That code is only available from a ETIS login (dealership login) or a licensed locksmith via the NASTF system. Forscan can actually still do the programming step, but without that uniquely generated code (called an "incode") you're outta luck.

BUT, Forscan is awesome regardless, and I have it on a list for another video I'm working on. Didn't have spare tie rods on the list, but that's actually a really good one. Mmmm.... now wondering if I should switch up my list a bit.
Personally, I also added a 15mm socket to my Bronco toolkit, since that is the necessary size to remove the skid plates.
Good to know. I haven't programmed fobs for anything newer than a 13 so it was probably the older system.

I find a 15 doesn't usually fit mine because they are always so mangled. I think a heavy impact socket that you can beat on might be a good idea. I usually skip right to a crescent wrench though.

For Torx I believe Zephyr used to (still does) produce Snap On torx bit? Other good brands would be Apex or Wiha. I got some Wiha bits a few months ago and so far they have been great.

Depending what you do or don't carry w/ you on the trail, this kit is handy for tie-rod repairs.

Saw the post, but hadn't put together the connection. So legitimate coincidence.
